I'm still disappointed at how shitty the Quantum of Solace song was.  I was and remain a huge fan of the The White Stripes, and to a lesser degree White's solo albums, but that was just a bad song.

When do I admit that the Spectre song kind of grew on me?  I guess now!  It's mostly shitty, those verses are awful, but sometimes I find myself involuntarily singing the chorus to myself.  That main strings melody is ok too.  It certainly did not deserve an Oscar (and "Skyfall" definitely did).

Stockholm Syndrome I guess.

Who cares about the lyrics? Its a Bond song

I didn't say anything about lyrics.  I meant the melody of the chorus gets stuck in my head at times.  Still not a great song, but it's more than the stupid Quantum song ever did for me.

Also, I hate Cornell's Casino song.  I have an intrinsic aversion to that awful 90s alt rock style of singing.

And it's still better than I See Fire.

That eejit who plays bagpipes on College Green in Dublin is more bearable than I See Fire.

I See Fire should not be used as a measurement for the quality of anything.

For me, Bond movies exist outside my normal standards of what a good movie is.  The series is its own beast.  I'd rather watch Jonathan Pryce chew scenery and Vincent Schiavelli do a funny accent in Tomorrow Never Dies than any of the self-serious "real" emotion BS in the Craig ones.

I've rather liked "Writing's On the Wall" from the beginning, to be honest.

He was the best!  And his Hitler Youth protege! Hilarious!  My favorite Bonds are always secretly comedies (and sometimes not so secretly).

"Consider him slimed"

Michael G. Wilson's finest performance.

And Jonathan Pryce's fake one-handed typing is some hilarious prop-work. Just look at that ridiculousness at 2:04 below!

If I'm honest I'd rather watch the worst Roger Moore Bond movie 4 times than any of the Craig ones.  Just not for me.

You're an exception. Sean Connery? Sure. Maybe. But not Moore.

But to each his own, of course. ;)

I had very high expectations for Skyfall, and Skyfall wasn't a bad movie by any means, but I ended up being disappointed. This is such a depressing, gray, colorless movie.

I much prefer Casino Royale... Eva Greene, the Bahamas, Venice. Ah, that's vintage Bond.

The best single score moment in Craig films is a really small moment when he wears a suit for the first time in front of a mirror. The sheer swagger of that theme statement  (you know my name) is amazing and one of the most Bondian things in the films.

That theme is so good and so perfectly fits Bond that it can easily be a recurring theme in the franchise for Bond the ladykiller gent persona. For Bond the adventurous assassin you always have the classic theme.

I admit I'm a weirdo when it comes to Bond.  Through pure chance Roger Moore movies were the first Bonds I happened upon as a child and was obsessed with them.  So to me, Austin Powers is closer to how I prefer a Bond movie than Skyfall.

Agreed, the way they used the original theme in that film was also masterful. Perfect for a reboot! The statement of the classic theme at the end is perfectly timed and placed.

Funny, I'm glad they Bourned up the franchise with Craig.

I love Skyfall but I also love the campier Moore flicks for very different reasons. It doesn't have to be an either/or.

Besides Skyfall is far from the dour psychodrama some make it out to be. It's fall of laughs from Dench, Bardem, Finney and even Craig himself, and it's got sillier moments, like the Komodo dragons, Charles Aznavour playing on Silva's PA system, Bond on the London underground, the Aston Martin reveal, shooting practice with Finney etc.

I disagree, but I don't think we're going to convince each other.

I'm ready to move on from the lumpy-headed, boring blonde guy!  I'd probably be more open to another Craig if the last movie wasn't Spectre. But I really do think the series needs another shake up.

It will be whoever is the flavor of the month in about two years time. No use specualting now.

Actually I'd say the Bond movies have a pretty good record of not going with the flavor of the month.  Garbage was an inspired choice with a great song for World Is Not Enough.  Chris Cornell was well past his prime popularity. I wouldn't call Jack White a fad, but maybe just because I'm a fan (his Bond song being shitty not withstanding). I think at this point it's pretty clear Adele isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, I'd say the only instances of fad, flavor of the month choices in the past 20 years are Sam Smith and Sheryl Crow.
