Might just be the OST though (possibly with Williams-heavy tracks removed). We'll see. The special TFA Williams FYC may only have been done because microedited tracks may not be allowed to be considered (I read the relevant rule and I'm actually not quite sure, but you could definitely read the rule as prohibiting microedited tracks from consideration). Giftheck 916
Just now, BloodBoal said: The TFA FYC had a shitload of microedits. The rule as it is states that the FYC CDs should feature the music as heard in the film (so that includes microedits). That being said, there are still a few oddities to be found on those CDs that don't quite respect the rule (for example, the TFA FYC didn't feature the Burning Homestead tracking in The Ways Of The Force). The TFA FYC didn't include any music from that scene. It also didn't include the tracking from Attack on the Jakku Village that preceded "Ways Of The Force" on the FYC. So those that uploaded the OSTs, which don't contain the music as heard in the film, are inadmissable. Whoops. crumbs

It actually did. 2:59 on FYC Torn Apart is taken from 5:12 of the OST Attack on the Jakku Village. Might just be my ears, but there's some pitch differences between the OST and FYC tracks though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf0qZLK8l-Y Nonetheless, Torn Apart is frustrating because both versions of that track contain music microedited from the other. The FYC has the dark music accompanying the sunlight fading (right before Ben kills Han), plus the secondary Kylo Ren motif at the end ("You're a monster!) Meanwhile, the OST version has more music before Han's death plus that strained Force Theme statement in the Rebel Base (replaced with the aforementioned tracking). I think the slower Kylo Ren theme statement (as the explosions go off) in the FYC version might have been digitally altered rather than an alternate take. Might be a fun project to combine the two versions, considering the differences. Will
thx99 1,740
UPDATE (NEW MUSIC): The Weinstein Company Founder, The (Carter Burwell) [32 cues, 53:15] Gold (Daniel Pemberton) [31 cues, 1:07:44] Lion (Volker Bertelmann & Dustin O'Halloran) [18 cues, 44:59]
Disco Stu 15,495
Sampled around The Founder. Sounds like typically nice, low-key, little boring Burwell. Probably works well in the film.

But I was referring to the microedits Williams makes for the OST that delete material from the film. 7 hours ago, BloodBoal said: Damn. I really need to relisten to that album. Forgot about that. So what happened to this rule? Did they drop it? Do they change the rules regarding film scores every year or what? Here's the rule (don't have the link now, sorry, but I found it in the rules PDF on the Academy Awards site): Quote Works shall be judged on their effectiveness, craftsmanship, creative substance and relevance to the dramatic whole, and only as presented within the motion picture. Extended, revised, enhanced or alternate versions outside of the film shall not be considered. And then of course there's the rule on old material... 7 hours ago, crumbs said: The FYC has the dark music accompanying the sunlight fading (right before Ben kills Han). The dark music, assuming we're talking about the same bit, is part of the big tragic Force theme alternate that was spliced in. That's why it's not on the OST. At this stage, I highly doubt that there will be a FYC page for The BFG, but I don't have any real insight into such matters. I'd love to be proven wrong, though, but I would have expected Disney (assuming they'd be the ones to create the site) to have put it up by now since it's not a "new" film (i.e., Moana and Rogue One were put up only after the film was released, whereas all of the other films that had already been released in 2016 were put up almost immediately). Offline 29
La La Land finally has the FYC up on their site. Unfortunately it has nothing new on it. Not even the cues separated like they were recorded as I'd hoped. Basically just the Score release with less tracks, chopped up, and reordered.
