This is why I despise the overuse of the word "iconic". If it really was that ubiquitous, everyone and their blind granny would recognise it, but nowadays even the most obscure and anonymous works get labeled "iconic" because someone liked it. It's mainly related to bubble bias, where people tend to overstate the quality and reach of the things that they're enthusiastic about. More than just geeky hyperbole, mainstream news media commits the same groaner sin because copywriters are hacks and editors are functionally illiterate. If someone filed copy like that with me, I'd have it spiked.

It is a correct descriptor for the two Murphy pieces because they are widely known beyond score fans like us, partly due to being reused in many projects.

The Eiffel Tower maybe, but bits of movie/TV music, just memorable probably. I'm never comfortable with sensationalism.
