Stefancos 9637 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 The success of Rogue One has led Lucasfilm to fast-track it's sequel, which has the working title of A New Hope and continues the story pretty much where Rogue One left off. Plot details are being kept under wraps but inside sources speculate that it will deal with Princess Leia Organa's attempts to take the stolen Death Star plans to her father on Alderaan. Rumor also has it a young actor named Mark Hamill has been cast to play the protagonist (possibly a brother to Jynn Orso from Rogue One, continuing the presence of the Orso family in this franchise). Also Harrison Ford will play a Cassian like ships captain and we will see more of the character Darth Vader if this leaked still is any indication. No official news at all yet regarding the score. But rumours suggest that due to his commitment to future Marvel films Michael Giacchino will not be able to score A New Hope. Apparently John Williams has been hired to step in, creating a new score building on some of Giacchino's themes from Rogue One. 6 crocodile, Pieter_Boelen, Scarpia and 3 others reacted to this

BloodBoal 7508 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 Oh, god, I hope this Williams guy won't do the score. I've heard some of his previous scores, and these are basically just jazzy boring stuff. Someone like Korngold would have been perfect for this. 1 Bespin reacted to this

Alex 1276 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 Hope we see more of that Darth Vader character. Will be interesting to see who is this "Emperor" character they kept mentioning
mstrox 3082 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 I loved the realistic opening of Rogue One. Unfortunately I heard that the sequel filmmakers are really overstepping their bounds with some nonsense special effect. And what the hell do they mean Episode IV? 1 Will reacted to this
Scarpia 132 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 I think I read somewhere that they will keep this Emperor unshown until maybe the sequel of this future film! I just hope extensive use of those brilliant Giacchino fanfares. That Rogue One title card in particular. It will be hard for Williams to follow the steps of this instant classic. I've heard a rumor according to which Tarkin will actually be played by a real actor in the sequel. Disappointing if true. The CG was the best thing about that character. Stefancos 9637 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 I doubt a real actor can capture the dead eyed coldness of the character.
Alex 1276 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 Apparently that gold robot we briefly saw may have a bigger role to play in the sequel? Looks like he may just be a ripoff of K-2SO? 2 The Psycho Pianist and Will reacted to this

crocodile 4047 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 I don't think Williams can do Giacchino's material justice. He tends to overwrite and create those self-important long-lined melodies that completely that become annoyingly memorable. I don't want to hear those being performed 40 years from now when you can have much more direct and effective material from Gia. Sometimes all you need is a couple of chords to express the most complex ideas and notions and Giacchino is a master of that. He doesn't overcomplicate his music and it therefore goes straight to your heart. Williams might think he's so clever and that he's writing a serious symphonic piece. Silly old git. Shame on you Disney for going with the flavour of the week. Karol
