I guess Davis' cue didn't have a strong enough beat for those in charge.

I remember a kid at school at the time referred to the first film's choir elements as "that gay music".

No Agent Smith on the fourth movie.

Hugo Weaving Will Not Be In THE MATRIX 4

In a new interview with Time Out London, Hugo Weaving says he won't be in Lana Wachowski's highly-anticipated The Matrix 4 (or whatever it ends up being called), which will soon begin filming with returning cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss. What could possibly be keeping Agent Smith from returning to the Matrix fold?

Says Weaving:

"It’s unfortunate but actually I had this offer [for The Visit] and then the offer came from The Matrix, so I knew it was happening but I didn’t have dates. I thought I could do both and it took eight weeks to work out that the dates would work – I held off on accepting [a role in The Visit during that time]. I was in touch with [director] Lana Wachowski, but in the end she decided that the dates weren’t going to work. So we’d sorted the dates and then she sort of changed her mind. They’re pushing on ahead without me."

Well, that doesn't mean no Agent Smith. Just means they'll not have Hugo Weaving. They could bullshit their way round it by saying Agent Smith is in disguise, or is just remnant code or something. There's precedent in the previous films.

Though I hope this doesn't mean that, and that they just do a new adversary.

Good for him for attempting to stick to his contractually obligated amount from Marvel.  They shouldn't have signed a contract if they didn't want to honor it.

I'd just as soon a new Matrix movie not revive Neo, Trinity, Agent Smith, etc., so as far as that goes, it's a whateva from me.

Any Matrix fans here?  I just got this notice:

Next month, the fourth installment of "The Matrix" series will begin filming in and around San Francisco’s Financial District. Filming will begin on Feb. 9, and will last for approximately three weeks. The production will involve precision driving and crash stunts, simulated gunfire, helicopters flying less than 500 feet from the ground, pyrotechnics and smoke. Unmanned aerial cameras will fly around to capture it all. Production will largely occur overnight, between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., and will center on Wednesdays through Sundays, to minimize weekday disruption. Any helicopter action will wrap up by midnight. The production will bring street closures in a area, from Drumm to Grant streets and from Market Street to Clay Street. Market Street itself won't be affected, and to minimize disruption to traffic, street closures will end at 5 a.m.  A major scene will be filmed along Sansome Street on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28. During this time, the ramp will be closed and access to and from the garage will be via the Battery Street ramp.

If you're looking to be part of the "Matrix" action (and are willing to stay up all night), the production company - DWYER CASTING (www.MyCastingFile.com) is seeking Men & Women 18+ for background work February 5th – March 1st 2020.

So they're not even filming the next one in Australia? What a trash heap production this is turning into.

What’s wrong with filming it in San Francisco?

Personally, I’m curious to see if I could be selected as an extra. SF is a 30-min BART ride away for me and I’ve never seen a TV or film crew in action, so it’d be a neat experience.

I'm a Matrix fan, and I like even the sequels, although I do recognize its flaws.

That said, the only way to make me care about this fourth movie is if Lana brings Don Davis back. It'll be really infuriating if she decides to go with Giacchino for this movie. Almost as bad Gia scoring Ep VII, and not Williams.

It's no longer necessary with current technology. The characters can run in the streets of L.A. and thanks to CGI everyone will think they are in Matrix City.

Didn't they film the first three because the AUD was half the value of USD? I mean, Lucas shot the last two SW prequels there too...

Maybe they want a clear view of all the hobos camping out in San Francisco streets.

Last time I was there I was doing security for an event, and ended up escorting families to their cars to avoid a gruff old homeless dude who had his pants down, listlessly, aimlessly stroking his dick.

Ah yes, Australia, the true star of The Matrix movies!

It's as much a character in the films as the actors! I say they should continue to vote in New Yorwait where are we talking about?

Although I think his character shouldn’t return, that’s a bummer for him as an actor.

Yeah, that's the sad thing: he was more than willing to do the role and had even negotiated so that he could do both. Then he gets burned like this with a text - a text - saying 'changed my mind'. That doesn't sound very professional at all, to say nothing of not even arranging a face-to-face to explain.

I had reservations about doing it again and we talked about that. I was very open about that. ‘Is this a good idea, going back to The Matrix?’”

Sounds like Hugo gave Lana some home truths about her reasoning for going back to this well. There's huge red flags forming around this, the most obvious being the two directors not seeing eye-to-eye.

And don't get your hopes up for Don Davis returning (unless Gia refuses to tread on Davis' territory, which is possible). Just imagine that trademark Matrix brass recorded with Gia's godawful dry mixes?

The Wachowskis also didn't work together for the second season of Sense8.  Lana finished that one and is doing this one solo as well.  Lilly has been off doing god-knows what, I guess!  Maybe a feud, or maybe just two people who want to carve paths separate from one another.

Yeah, if Lana treats her old friend and collaborator Hugo Weaving like this, she probably could do the same to Davis, which is a shame.

And it becomes more terrible because Gia absolutely DOES NOT need Matrix 4. He is going to have already a very busy year in 2021, and he has an Oscar and a lot of projects both big and small. As for Don, he could ABSOLUTELY make good use of The Matrix 4, which could rescue him from the underworld of weird japanese movies and sci-fi flicks with minuscule budgets, and maybe again to Hollywood's A-list. It's depressing, really.

The hell is the dead girl doing in this flick? And the other dead guy?

One of them is Practically Jesus. The other is... um... yeah, I got nothin'.

(They probably both exist exclusively in the Matrix)
