Williams Concert Versions that still need proper studio recordings

I've always longed for The Flag Parade. Another that comes to mind is The Accidental Tourist.

The Far and Away suite that combines the first track with the end credits sans The Chieftans is another.

And the JFK suite (Main Theme, Motorcade, and Arlington) includes some transitional material between the main theme and motorcade if memory serves.

And Civil Rights and The Women's Movement has been performed live in extended form. Love that piece.

I wish they had recorded enough arrangements to make Volume 3 be 2 discs.

In addition to what they did record, they could have also recorded:

  • Abandoned and Pursued from ET
  • Stargazers from ET
  • The Lost World from The Lost World
  • Where Dreams Are Born from AI
  • Blue Fairy Theme from AI
  • Abandoned in the Woods from AI
  • Sean's Theme from Minority Report
  • Jazz Autographs from The Terminal
  • Suite from War of the Worlds
  • Avner's Theme from Munich
  • Avner and Daphna / Thoughts of Home from Munich
  • Irina's theme from Indy 4
  • Call of the Crystal from Indy 4
  • The Adventures of Tintin (Main Titles) from Tintin
  • The People's House from Lincoln
  • Freedom's Call from Lincoln
  • Elegy from Lincoln
  • Getting Out The Vote from Lincoln
  • Dream Jars from BFG

and plenty of other stuff!

He wrote a concert version of the The Jedi Steps, expanding on Torn Apart and Kylo Ren's themes.

Edit: oops, didn't realise it was Spielberg only. But yes, The Lost World. A horrible omission from Volume 3 and would have given the new album some much needed diversity.

Apart from A SECOND CHANCE, what might there be, in a TAT concert piece?

Here's Williams conducting it:

And there's a decent recording of it on this Naxos compilation, which was one of the first soundtrack CDs I ever bought back in 1990:

It is also arranged for solo oboe and a chamber orchestra (arrangement not by Williams) on Keisuke Wakao Plays the Music of John Williams album, which I recommend wholeheartedly.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this:

'Young Indy's First Adventure' from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

A favourite of mine. It has an abbreviated beginning and closes with slam bang coda concert style. In the Indy Box set this music is broken into two cues.

It would have made a great cue to start the Williams Spielberg Collaboration III album, Kinda sore about it.

You need the LSO?

Okay.

At 17.50:

I know I have that recording on CD, It's awful. Doesn't even sound like the LSO and I said Williams and The LSO.

Richard Hayman recorded the concert version of The Accidental Tourist in the late 1989 for Naxos International. Not the best of performances, but still...

EDIT: should have read the whole thread before posting what has already been said :P
