Why? For how long? And was it really your fault?

By the way, FB sucks! The only thing it's good for is to waste time...

Who said I got banned?

Not always, but I thought so for a long time. I don't much use FB anyway, but if most of your friends do, you kinda have to.

Your friends forget about you if you're not on Facebook.

Not forget, maybe, but you kinda wanna keep up and in touch with them...

FB seems the easiest (and laziest) way.

Yeah it feels a bit weird if you're not on there and you're phoning your friends all the time to find out what they've been up to. Could be seen as needy.

A narcissists dream. Oh and a really lazy way to keep in touch with friends. Personally, I miss the days when we all used to meet up at the summit of Mount Everest.

Yeah back then a summit at the summit was something to look forward to decennially.

For better or worse, I use it a lot to talk to my friends in my walking group and organise things with them. Plus people I meet on holidays - FB is the default way to keep in touch.

There are definitely downsides - I recently had to miss a social gathering because I was ill, and seeing a photo posted of my aforementioned friends round the dinner table was not helpful.

And yes, there's a lot of crap on there. It's not perfect.

Anybody still remember a time BEFORE the Internet? I think that was a better time.

You actually called people up on the telephone (landlines because back then nobody had cell phones), and if they happened to be home and pick up, you actually SPOKE to them and asked things like, "Hey, what's up? How are you? So how was your vacation?"

The weirdest shit. Seems almost like another universe. 😂

I deleted my Facebook account about 4 years ago and exclusively used Twitter.  A couple of weeks ago I finally quit Twitter.

Unless you count this forum, yes.  I stay in touch with people mostly through text now.

So has anybody been banned?  What do you even have to do to do that?  I kind of assume that you're probably a giant asshole who harassed someone if you did get banned.  Is that wrong?

Yeah, the mere fact that somebody got banned doesn't outrage me.  Sometimes there are very good reasons for banning people.

You and I have more in common that we might have originally thought: a love for Zelda music, no social media bullshit, we don't find the Red Letter Media crap funny...

I like you, Stu. I shall cheer for you.

I predict you will live to regret these words!

You're missing out on a car crash banter goldmine not being on FB with your JWFan comrades, BloodBoal. The Justin and Drax Show, Joey ranting about US home policy and B-grade female celebs, and STEF-E's almost as prolific on there as he is here.

Sometimes Facebook will ban you when you're at work on a smartphone, but I prefer my banning back home

I'm thinking this particular banning was the result of some sort of deviance...

General social media banality aside, Facebook actually has its professional and academic perks. It can be a pretty useful instrument in the right context.

Yes.

What do you have to do to get banned here?

I certainly hope teasing a moderator about GOT isn't sufficient grounds. ;)
