Plus people I meet on holidays - FB is the default way to keep in touch. There are definitely downsides - I recently had to miss a social gathering because I was ill, and seeing a photo posted of my aforementioned friends round the dinner table was not helpful. And yes, there's a lot of crap on there. It's not perfect.

You actually called people up on the telephone (landlines because back then nobody had cell phones), and if they happened to be home and pick up, you actually SPOKE to them and asked things like, "Hey, what's up?
