Porra's Driftwood II is still a top cue for this year, no contest. So Goldenthalian in its massive full symphonic grandeur:

Nice, haven't heard any Dudley except for Full Monty (which is not my thing) and American History X inside the film (which I don't remember).

here's the Frisina version, which is more my thing:

Inspired by the recent discussion comparing Williams' Hook, Howard's Peter Pan and Powell's Pan, I decided to give Powell's effort a listen. And while I didn't have time to complete the whole album, 1:20 in this cue really stood out to me as a delightful bit of scoring that is so characteristic of Powell. I look forward to getting through the rest of the album when I have the chance.

When I say I don't like Hooper's HP scores, I recognize my opinion isn't exactly fair and much of it is due to my antipathy for the movies themselves. They are rooted in my own juvenile fanatism for the books (as a teen I expected the movies to be as epic as the books but they didn't live up to my expectations - of course, nothing would).

Still, when I give the NH scores a fair judgement, they're actually good! I really like this track from HBP, it's so menacing and foreboding, kinda reminds me some Hans Zimmer scores like Pirates and King Arthur.

A huge unpopular opinion on JWFan of all places: Hildur deserved her Oscar.

Even if only because of this cue, which is a powerful and tragic representation of the dark, violent future that not only the Joker but also Gotham as whole have coming for them. All those people cheering for Arthur by the end...

If only they knew how much pain and suffering he would impose upon that city as the Joker. Her dark music underscores all the violence in the future of Gotham.

Also: no one noticed the Dies Irae quote at 3:40?

Been revisiting this. Classic score in its own right. Never watched the show, but definitely want to at some point to see the music in context:

Common Ground by John Debney from the third season of The Orville is in my opinion one of the most beautiful cues written for a series or film. At least from the last 20 years.

The strings at the start are just beautiful, but it's when the piano comes in that I'm sort of taken to another place. There's something in this cue that does something to me, but I'm having a hard time explaining what.

It's just astounding!!!

I love this score in its entirety but this cue is a textbook example of how to stretch a simple motif into a 3 minute cue without it getting boring.

The face of Pan. It's so obvious that JW wrote that fantastic Boston Pops version first and then watered it down for the film because he had to. You just feel it's a piece of music stuck in a scene that's totally in the way of what he's trying to do.

Come on Harry, I know you're into the "curated soundtrack albums" thing, but how could you leave one of the best cues in the entire score out of the OST?

Great cue!

Lots of film music fans absolutely HATE James Horner's House of Sand and Fog/Boy in Stripped Pajamas/The New World/etc style. Not me though. One of my favorite (and saddest) pieces of music he ever wrote. So poetic, sad and melancholic :(

Really looking forward to it too, as I really liked the score for The Northman. It's funny that we're not only getting this but also Christopher Young's score for the original film really soon! Has this ever happened before, where we got two different scores for the same concept/story this close to each other?

This is a thrilling cue, especially the conclusion where the music shifts down a semitone and suddenly becomes louder:
