mrbellamy 6,272
Powell identifies a couple more themes here: He mentions a Han/Chewie friendship theme (wonder if that's the same or different from the Chewie theme) and a "belonging" theme for Beckett (Woody Harrelson) along with the love theme that we know about. And then I think it's been mentioned elsewhere that the droid has a theme too? So we can listen out for those.

PrayodiBA 517
perhaps this has been asked many times, and seeing how sophisticated John Powell's own studio is, How much is composer's salary? For example is Powell's case here, composer per his caliber, and scoring this giant movie? could it reach a minimum 500k just for Powell? really curious
Dixon Hill 4,233
John Powell scoring a Star Wars picture will bring in far more than 500k all told. Far more. bollemanneke and crumbs
PrayodiBA 517
^^ If it reachs a million, then it's quite a lot to be honest ( but that very much worths it). (I always assume for a movie this big, they would allocate 1-1,5 million for ALL COMPLETE music productions (composer's salary, the orchestra, the team, the agent, accomodation, anthing; or perhaps more)) ZImmer will definitely bring million, and so will Williams ( millionS!) The leaked budget for The Village revealed JNH was paid $1.3m (standalone fee), so add 15 years and the fact that it's Star Wars, and I wouldn't be surprised if he were looking at $3-4m. Zimmer, who must be the most in demand film composer in the world, must be looking at quite a lot of millions per score.
Disco Stu 15,495
Don’t forget though that most composers now are basically operating their own small businesses with their own studios and employees with all the overhead that comes along with that. It’s not like it’s all pocketed by the composer.
Richard Penna 3,671
Maybe things have changed since then. But I'd be surprised (in an 'assuming way') if composers of Powell/JNH's stature weren't paid a standalone fee.
