Not bad, its rather good really ---- Now the score ---- Sigh, boy oh boy it was poorly mixed. And i watched in on IMAX. I really cant judge whether it lives up to our expectation or not because of that. But on hindsight, lets say this will be a wonderful listening experience on the album. And yes, you can easily distinguish which one is Powell's which one isnot ( obviously it is all powell's, so dont need to bother to even start a debate). And im quite surprised the score sounds less star warsy than general audience (and me) would expect. Particularly in the action sequences, it sounds more Hancocky really. The Powell's theme, my god, i really couldnt hear it beneath that sound effects. The love theme stood out the most. And yes again, the most memorable moment from the score came from Williams's materials. There are a lot of small references to various Williams' original themes (at some point a little too much - Herbert Spencer is even listed in the orchestrators list!) but some slow arrangements are very nice. - The love theme is GORGEOUS, with strings right out of the Golden Age and a very moving piano version - Solo et Qi’Ra relationship benefits enormously from Powell's score in their sequences as the chemistry is not 100% there with the actors. - There is a lot of other thematic material, the score has a classical vibe that made the second HTTYDragon score so great. The CD cannot come soon enough. Overall a pleasant movie (just don't expect too much though), with a great score. The scenes, in which the love theme was stated wonderfully, was abruptly censored and cut ( well you know, this is a "love" theme, so you kinda really get the idea of what scenes they were). This is new actually, because we (and me too) are in the middle of Ramadhan fasting season, so i guess, the national censor board wisely took the scenes out so the mass audiences would not easily get succumbed into too much lust ( the hell ? __-) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
