crumbs 15,762 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Well I didn't see that coming!!!!! They did trick us! Arpy and bollemanneke 2
Frank Vincent 295 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 A dream come true. Thank you La-La Land! The Illustrious Jerry 1
Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Well that's some nifty cover art! I've never seen that artwork before! "35th Anniversary Remastered Edition". Hmmm, I wonder what the tracklist is The Illustrious Jerry and bollemanneke 2
crumbs 15,762 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Great cover art! Something unused from the archives? Good to see the Matessino/Williams/Spielberg/Universal/Amblin collaboration forging ahead after last year's superb Jurassic set. Potentially Schindler's List might be in the works for the 25th Anniversary next year?
Naïve Old Fart 12,142 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 As long as it has the THE QUIET MAN stuff, I'll be happy. That's been a holy grail of mine for some time. Well done, LLL!
Popular Post Incanus 5,882 Posted August 31, 2017 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2017 OMG! OMG! OMG! crumbs, Cerebral Cortex and Arpy 3
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I am happy for those who will now have what the AI release is for me. Incanus 1
Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Artwork seems to take the houses from this?
Incanus 5,882 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Now all we need to know is the tracklist! bollemanneke 1
Manakin Skywalker 5,729 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I remember this morning (and I'm not kidding) I was taking a shit and thought to myself, "I wonder if LLL will announce anything in the next week, and if there'll be anything Williams-related".
crumbs 15,762 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Wish I hadn't listened to the previous expansion earlier in the week. Would've been nice to save myself up. Looking at the excellent cue list breakdown here, there's a lot more revisions and alternates than I realised, not even factoring in the OST tracks. Wonder how MM has handled the inserts for Escape/Chase/Goodbye and which version will appear in the complete chronological score presentation on disc 1? I prefer the insert included but that wasn't JWs original intention.

I prefer the insert included but it's not JWs original intention (or so I thought). I expect they have championed the inclusion of the film version in main score programme and the original version in the extras. Unless they include the OST in the set and then it would be there already and they would not probably replicate it in the score programme. But when Matessino is involved I trust that the presentation is going to be awesome. crumbs 1

Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 The more I look at the cover art, the more I love it!
crumbs 15,762 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Excellent and logical! This set is going to be fantastic. Is there any reason this wouldn't all fit on 2 discs?
Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 There is no reason that everything recorded for this film wouldn't fit on two discs, no. The complete score easily fits on one, the OST was only 40 minutes, there are way less than 40 minutes worth of alternates we know about, including that theme park music
Pawel P. 871 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I hope it includes a fantastic Botanicus Theme Williams composed in 1991 specifically for the E.T. Adventure ride attraction. Actually, I can't imagine a complete E.T. without this. Pieter Boelen 1
Incanus 5,882 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Would they include a theme park ride material on a score release as it is not part of the original score and was composed so many years later? Seems somewhat unlikely but I am happy to be proven wrong on this.
Brundlefly 2,400 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Oh, they're finally going to treat the 80s!
Brundlefly 2,400 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Well, as you may have noticed, it's the only one that has got a definitive release yet. I mean, look how much of the 90s is already done. Do you think that nullifies the chance, that we'll get Close Encounters this year?
Popular Post Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted August 31, 2017 Of course I noticed. I vote for Temple of Doom and Empire Strikes Back as the next 80s titles to tackle! Pieter Boelen, crumbs and karelm 3
Holko 11,671 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 So how do we get these in Europe without it costing at least 40 more with shipping and customs? Wait for somebody to put it up on Amazon and Ebay?
Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Europeans can buy it through Music Box Records to save on shipping: https://www.musicbox-records.com/ bollemanneke and Holko 2
scallenger 644 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I echo the statement of wanting the music from the ride. I know it isn't from the film, but how else would we ever get such music? It's a golden opportunity (something I wish would have been done for Back to the Future, but at least we have that old re-recording for it). I can see the hurdle of rights issues, of course.
crumbs 15,762 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I totally forgot about the theme park music! Surely if MM wanted it included, a quick phone call from Spielberg could have the planets align? Don't get your hopes up though.
Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 In order for the theme park music to be included, 1) All rights issues must be sorted out 2) The source element for the recording must be located and transferred 3) JW must approve of its inclusion on the set
Amer 2,642 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I like the artwork-I'm thinking it must be Jim Titus! Another great talent from LLL team. crumbs 1

Jim Titus has done every one of the LLL / JW / SS expansions so far, and there's no reason to think he wouldn't do these two as well! He is unequivocally the best in the business, hands down. crumbs 1

Jay 43,879 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 That's why I included SS in my assessment He also didn't do the first version of Home Alone, nor older stuff like Poseidon Adventure

Arpy 4,218 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 The cover doesn't say "Expanded" but 2 discs and such has to mean it's expanded, right? I'm not just being an idiot?
Popular Post #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,269 Posted August 31, 2017 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2017 Pretty cool to hear about an expanded E.T. while attending a screening of Close Encounters. bollemanneke, crumbs, Incanus and 2 others 5
bollemanneke 4,133 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Can't really say I'm excited for this, but at least this will be a reason to delete the 'complete' fan edit...
Josh500 1,620 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Great news! Yeah, ET... I definitely didn't see this coming.
rough cut 1,783 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Great news! Don't get your hope up regarding any Theme Park music. It seems unlikely. So how will this (OST) remaster differ from the one that will be in the 4K BluRay set?
Amer 2,642 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 11 minutes ago, rough cut said: So how will this (OST) remaster differ from the one that will be in the 4K BluRay set? It appears that this Blu ray 4k release will only contain the OST album. Whereas LLL will be issuing both the complete soundtrack assembly of disc 1 and the 1982 OST album on disc 2 (with possible alternates bonus cues) in their 2 CD presentation. We should wait for the official details in coming weeks. crumbs and bollemanneke 2
