E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial La-La Land ANNOUNCEMENT Thread

I'm listening to Meeting E.T.  alternate.

Strange.

The cue should start from 0.17'' and on according to sheet music.

The first seconds seems an alternate "alternate beginning", with clarinet instead of flute.

i guess they found this alternate insert, and decided to put it there.

The sheet music isnt final. The recording is.

Not at all.

There are quite a few instances in cd releases where inserts are placed in some random or not place, so as not to be alone tracks of a few seconds.

And i think this is the case here.

0.00-0.16 is meant to replace 0.17-0.26.

And that's why the alternate is longer than the cue in CD1.

Not complaining.. just saying.

The segue between The Forest and Keyes Arrives here is flawless!

Sounds good!

It includes the overlay heard in the film that the 96 and 2002 CDs didn't have!

Aw man cuts off right before the segue!

So this is what all the fuss has been about eh?  Well...these 44 seconds are nice!

Different beginning!

I always enjoyed the alternate opening to the end credits, but the revised intro used in the film is certainly superior.

It's the film take without the extra harp Bouzereau gave us!

The harp or no-harp part is right after the sample ends.

What overlay?

Yes the piano on its own for the first 30 seconds or so was the right choice.  Makes it more special somehow, the perfect capper to the extreme emotional ending.

Yep!

In fact, if the original OST had flipped the location of Adventure on Earth and Over The Moon, we'd have a similar experience there.

As much as I like the cover art itself, I'm not sure whether I don't prefer the original movie poster cover art for the complete E.T. score album.

This just seems a bit too random, like fan made.

But this is not really a complaint, just an observation.

Compare the sample to the track on the 2002 CD (The sample starts around 0:50 into the cue).  There's more twinkly stuff here.

The new art is fine. But the original is unbeatable for me.

I don't hear it.

And I followed both with the sheet music.

Maybe the clearer sound makes it so to you?

I gotta say, I'm much more hyped about this than about CE3K!

I barely listen to CE3K at all. But maybe, or hopefully, that will change after the Complete CE3K is released!

Same for me.   The complete certainly has upped my listens of 1941 and Empire
