Snowster 2 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 "Apple plans to create 10 new episodes of "Amazing Stories" alongside Amblin and NBC Universal, with plans to spend more than $5 million per episode. Spielberg is likely to be an executive producer for the new version of the show, according to The Wall Street Journal's sources." https://www.macrumors.com/2017/10/10/apple-steven-spielberg-amazing-stories/ What do you think, are they going to use the original theme? Is Steven Spielberg going to direct the pilot? Will John Williams create a new theme for the "new" series and/or will he score the pilot? --Snowster
Jay 12138 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 It would be neat if SS can convince JW to write some new music for this, like an updated recording of the opening and closing titles. There's no chance he'll score a whole episode though.
Quintus 4255 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 Spielberg TV? Nah, you're alright.
Jay 12138 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 I highly doubt Spielberg will direct any episodes for this.
Quintus 4255 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 The pilot at best, but I doubt he'll bother.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch 4821 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 Amazing Stories 2049: Legacy? I thought this show wasn't very successful. But then, that hasn't stopped them from momentarily reviving all of these other properties from irrelevancy.
Tom 1140 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 Well, in the case of this show, it is just a platform for telling non-connected stories of a generic sci-fi/fantasy kind. So, if they have some stories to tell, then why not do so and use a semi-recognizable name to jump start it.
Not Mr. Big 2431 Report post Posted October 10, 2017 I'm all for this. The original series wasn't great by any stretch but this should be an excellent vehicle for anthology stories. I just hope they put actual talent behind it so it doesn't turn out like that shitty Minority Report series.

Williams will not be involved in this in any capacity, I'm willing to bet a lot of money on that. But there's a slight -- slight! -- chance they'd use his theme in a new arrangement. But in all likelihood, it will have a new theme to fit the more contemporary story they're telling.

Thor 2487 Report post Posted March 25 Very intriguing. Hope they'll reuse Williams' theme (update it if they must), and that the roster of episode composers is equally impressive as the original series. It's a pretty good time for high quality anthology shows right now. 1 Once reacted to this

Yavar Moradi 350 Report post Posted March 25 It would be super cool if some composers who worked on this show at the beginning of their careers -- like Danny Elfman, Bruce Broughton, Craig Safan, David Newman, and Thomas Newman -- would come back and be the veterans this time, like Delerue, Williams, Goldenberg, Shire, Mandel, Addison, Steiner, and Goldsmith were last time. crumbs 5989 Report post Posted March 26 Seems remarkably hypocritical from Spielberg after his grandstanding against Netflix over the last few months.
