Popular Post crocodile 9,417 Posted November 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2017 http://www.superherohype.com/news/407589-breaking-rian-johnson-developing-new-star-wars-trilogy#/slide/1 Quote As writer-director of The Last Jedi, Johnson conceived and realized a powerful film of which Lucasfilm and Disney are immensely proud. In shepherding this new trilogy, which is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored. “We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.” “We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on The Last Jedi,” Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement. “Star Wars is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.” Karol Pieter Boelen, Holko, Cerebral Cortex and 2 others 1 4
Will 2,389 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Woah! (I know most of you will probably just groan, but I'm hyped. They must have really liked Johnson.) Hopefully they really do explore new characters and locations. John 1
Popular Post Balahkay 631 Posted November 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2017 Is this why he isn't doing Episode IX? Too busy with the new trilogy? Disney is certainly very confident TLJ is going to be an absolute hit with audiences. Arpy, crumbs and Will 3

Will 2,389 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Another good thing I just realized - this might mean that Lucasfilm will end, or at least pause, the main saga after IX! Which would be best. James and Holko 2

Will 2,389 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Another good thing - three new chances for (hopefully) three different composers to take a crack at SW!

Popular Post toothless 1,023 Posted November 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2017 I hope we won't get 3 different composers. I'm all for diversity in standalone films. But as directors changes from one film to another on the episodes, we need continuity. I'd really like desplat. But I'd be more than happy with giacchino. James, Once and cameron.osborn 3

toothless 1,023 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Depending on the shape the new trilogy will have, maybe disney will allow for a musical shift in terms of style ? Not that I want it to happen but who knows. A new main title ? Pieter Boelen 1
Popular Post John 2,033 Posted November 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2017 Exciting news! This makes me even more excited for what Rian has in store with The Last Jedi... Many are speculating that it might be an "Old Republic" trilogy, with the three films taking place thousands of years before the prequels, during the Jedi/Sith wars. It'd certainly be a fascinating period of Star Wars mythology to explore, especially with Johnson at the helm, and I know many fans have been hoping for a series like this since Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan! Holko, Pieter Boelen, James and 2 others 4 1

The Score Cleaner 8,878 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Are we certain this isn't a trilogy of "spinoff" films?
Nick1Ø66 7,495 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 That article was almost written like you see April Fool's pranks worded. That's actually the first thing I thought (then I looked at my calendar). Weird. I'm fine with them doing this, it was inevitable. Just weird to let it out this way.
The Score Cleaner 8,878 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 This is nothing really new for Star Wars, only the medium is different.
Popular Post Quintus 6,012 Posted November 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2017 Another trilogy being in development should come as no surprise to anybody. I hope I'm not going to be subjected to loads of feigned cries of "OMG milking it!" after this news. I mean, this is why Disney spent out big on the brand. Not Mr. Big 4,884 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 This announcement makes me more excited for TLJ. Don't really care about the trilogy itself though
Nick1Ø66 7,495 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 See! Lucas said he had 12 Star Wars movies mapped out all along, and now he's been proven right. Lots of you doubters are eating Bantha poodo about now.

Yeah, except that medium is what started it all and what made it special. Sure, you had tons of books, comic books, games, whatever, but you had only 3 films. These were rare, special. Then there were 6. Soon, there'll be 12. And with this new trilogy, 15 (in what, less than 10 years time?). Feeling less and less special by the minute... 9 minutes ago, Quintus said: Another trilogy being in development should come as no surprise to anybody. Sure, the trilogy itself is no surprise.
