THE LAST JEDI - Deleted scenes feature original score by Williams

My one hope is that the additional Fathiers music is exactly the type we would hear in the LEGO game adaptation - I guess it'll feature a Fathiers level, and they might realise using only the OST track would get boring/too much if used repeatedly throughout the whole (possibly elongated to stretch playtime) chase. Rey Running also doesn't seem far from the type of action music that they'd use in fights, maybe a cutscene.

Now that we have all of the music from the film itself, this is probably my most-wanted (partially) unused cue. Watching it again last night, with emphasis on paying attention to the music only, I was surprised just how much was cut out of the film and OST.

The extended's about 5:00-5:30 (counting from the OST track's opening to its ending); the OST track is 2:42. The film version's microedited down (and adds Long Goodbye in the middle), the extended (maybe we should start calling it "original") has extra material everywhere you wouldn't expect, but it fits really well. If the OST track is diverse fun with its 2-3 rythms and flavours, the original extends those and has 2-3 more, each one awesome. And unlike the scene, it doesn't overstay its welcome or get repetitive.

It is fantastic we got the iso score so soon but it is a shame the deleted scenes didn't have it too. Rey's theme in action mode when she is running to the village is awesome and one of the best quotes of her theme from the two films.

I haven't heard the extended Fathiers yet but it sounds like another unreleased gem.

NICE! Something may be dug out from underneath - I already started work on unearthing some stuff from the stereo mix I found by utilizing repeated music, but didn't get very far.

That music is AWESOME - and pretty clean in the rear channels!

It's funny how things can change fast. Rey's Training was always my favourite rendition of her theme that was omitted from the OST but that is now suddenly and completely replaced by that Rey running cue. Rey's Training, as lovely as it is, is basically a variation of the concert suite, but Rey running is an entirely new arrangement. It is just as good as The Abduction from TFA,

It is actually a shame that scene was cut from the movie. Luke had an important message for Rey about balance. There was a lot of other stuff in the movie that could have been cut instead.

Yeah, it sounded it would be pretty clean although I presume there will be some sfx bleeding into the rear channels when she lights up her lightsaber.

I just listened to the extended Fathiers scenes. A lot of good unreleased moments there, although I can understand why Johnson shortened that scene. It went on for far too long and some of the humour (especially that spa scene) was rubbish.

I dunno, the awesome thing about the Lightsaber Training cue is how is transitions from Rey's Theme to the Luke in Exile theme (or whatever we're calling that these days), something the new cue doesn't do

Yup the scene is terrible but the music is great

Normally I'd say it's weird that a scene gets scored this early, in a concept assembly form. But if THIS is the result of that, Johnny needs to start scoring the previz+storyboard assembly of IX right now.

I just watched this 13 minute video of deleted scenes that I assume is straight from the blu ray, and I saw no extended Fathiers Chase

Are there more deleted scenes on some retailer exclusive version of something?

The music for Rey running towards the caretaker party from 7:20-7:50 is AWESOME!!!!!

Rian Johnson is like a stocky untalented James Cameron.

The Fathier chase deleted scene contains a ton of final footage from the film, so it's likely that they were unable to upload that particular scene due to copyright infringement.

That party source music is lots of fun! Hard to believe an 85 year old wrote this score, it's so filled with diversity and youthfulness.

Which party source music are you talking? The caretakers?

Yeah the Irish-sounding jig. No idea what instrument it is, sounds like bagpipes or something?

BTW the FYC (and film) has a section of "Casino Entrance" tracked into 1:40-1:45. (replacing of 1:56-2:01)

The Caretaker Sizes up Rey seems to have some material cut from the OST track (or its tracked from somewhere else..)

I really wish they kept Rey Run and the Caretaker scene in the film

Is that the scene that's supposed to be before Rey leaves the island.? This explains why  she left without sayng goodbye or thanks to Luke

Plus we'd have clean in the iso score

It would have been right after Luke talks about Darth Sidious and the first Kylo Ren flashback, and before the Cave Scene.

5.1 deleted score rips!

All done, some may need the previous score tracks overlapping in the beginning or end - That's why I uploaded the complete Fathiers track, too, that one's a bit more complex.

Some more sound effects could have been removed or dialed down, but at the cost of more time I don't have at the moment, and probably worse quality and more jumping from left to right or from stereo to quasi-mono.

I know Youtube is too lossy for some, so I have the original FLAC files if you PM nicely.

The complete Fathiers is glorious (well, will be when it gets a proper release) - we're really going around in circles but Johnny must have found the Fountain of Youth.

BTW at 0:45-0:48 of your "Rooftops and Bath-house" is tracked from 0:10 of Casino Entrance

Also the Deleted Phasma scene uses some of Rey Runs.

The full Fathiers Charge! is amazing! Can't believe they cut that down so much. (Having seen the full scene I definitely think it probably needed to be cutdown but maybe not so harshly)

It's unbelievable how much energy he still has. That cue is glorious indeed.

Love that "Luke has a moment" cue and how it recapitulates some of the Acht-to material that I thought was a one-off. It also includes hints of the Holdo/desperation theme. Watching the film with the isolated score and really increases my appreciation for how densely woven into the score that theme is.

Isn't this all already in the film? First half from after the scene with Snoke, when Luke says go away (right before the daily routine montage, also on the OST), and the second half is from when Luke says it's time for the Jedi to end.

There a few seconds not in the  film.

For example those loud strings are shorter in the film/on the OST, and the short Sustained strings are not in the film IIRC.

Wonder if that deleted scene was actually scored with that cue or they just added it in for the temp. The film version could be micro edited. If that scene was meant to transition to the Leia sequence, the film underwent some pretty big editorial changes.

From what I understand, yeah it was supposed to transition to the Leia scene, which leads me to believe that the cue was intended for that deleted scene and they must have figured either way it was a good piece to use for Luke's sadness and for transitioning to the Leia scene (which it does in the theatrical). Makes me wonder what was there initially for the "time for the Jedi to end" scene.

Has anyone created an edit of the full Fathiers cue?

Also, were the unreleased bits inserts or originally meant to be part of a longer cue?  The OST version sounds very fluid and organic to my ears.  The only part I question is the transition into Rose's theme.

Both LUKE HAS A MOMENT, and CARETAKER PARTY should have stayed in the film.

My personal edit already has them both restored.

Yep, it's in my playlist I posted earlier in this thread.

The big trumpet statement? There is a short microedit on the OST.

It's 4 different cues, not one long one. I have all 4 in my playlist here:

No, I meant this. It's not a bad transition, it just seemed something could have been removed for the OST.

And, as you see around 3: 24 in my complete track, there was. However, when it returns at 4:25, it uses the OST edit? I assembled this parallel to the deleted scene, surely I didn't mess it up. But why would they do that?

Thanks for the work you put in to that, Holko! Can't wait to one day hear it on an official release :)
