I've known about that since I can recall...

They were available only through a CD for use by NBC affiliate stations.

And I assume you have it?

I wonder why JW didn't rerecord the entire thing for the Call of the Champions album.

It's like the theme for Indiana Jones!

It's been referred to on various official releases as....

Raiders March

Raiders' March

Raider's March

The Raiders March

It's like they don't even know themselves!

Wouldn't you happen to have tracklists? Best I could find is this, but what about the first one?

Good question. I will make some search. I think it's posted in an existing thread of this forum...

By the way, I'm really digging Pulse of Events! This sounds like an action/chase music from Indiana Jones.... :D

Of the actual complete set of original recordings by Williams, I'm afraid I just have mp3 files of the tracks. Earlier they were available (the four part The Mission and a collection of bumpers) in a rather poor sounding CD-R bootleg called Fanfares and Themes.

The subsequent releases, and I'm now going by memory, only have some excerpts of those.

The original 1985 sessions produced 19 cues: The 4-part The Mission, 4 opener-closer cues ranging from 30 to 15 seconds in duration, and a collection of 11 bumpers, the longer being 20 seconds long, the shorter about 10.

Part of this are the opening 9 tracks of the CD tracklist posted above.

Yes, I own both Volumes I and II, but not the 2000 version (see @Bespin's post above).

Picked mine up on eBay.

But I wish JW would rerecord the entire thing.

I really love The Mission which is included on the Call of the Champions album. And I thought that was the whole thing... until now.

Talking about the 2002 album, there is also a promo CD of it, with radio edits, nothing very important here I think.

No, I completely anayzed all his catalog and discography, to identify all the different, unreleased and alternate versions that exists (because there is MANY), here's my catalog:  http://www.goplanete.com/orbison/orbison catalog.htm

Without modesty, I'm a reference now. ;)

I really like the main theme too. It sounds kinda unique in JW's oeuvre. Nothing he's written sounds quite like this, does it? How would you describe it?

I'd say optimistic, hectic, somehow reassuring and heartwarming.

I've always known The Mission had 4 parts.

what's wrong with the videos, the  speed and pitch seem wrong (too fast and high), especially on scherzo for today

The Resistance March sounds like its of the NBC News musical universe. Maybe like a more ominous theme for Trump coverage.

Even the X-Wing scherzo sounds like an amped up NBC News-esque piece with the SW theme interpolated.
