crumbs 14,904
Yay! Congrats JW! Except, didn't he write that piece like 15 years ago? Is it specifically the recording he did for the Spielberg/Williams album?

Yeah, it must be for the new album. bollemanneke
Popular Post Thor 8,505
I can see it now. John and Samantha are having breakfast tomorrow morning. Samantha is reading the news on her iPad while John is still pouring over the newspaper (he's such an "antediluvian", after all). "Hey, darling, I see here that you won another Grammy!", she says. John peeks up at her from behind the paper. "That's nice, Sam. Could you pass me the eggs, please". How many Grammys does he have now? crumbs, Pieter Boelen, Will and 1 other

raider 12
Just saw the news and came on here to see if it’s been mentioned and alas! Congrats to the maestro himself. Now I have it playing on my surround sound at home.

Okay, even I admit this post lowers whatever bar there is around here for humor. Will and Oomoog the Ecstatic
Dzadza 90
one thing...I remember reading somewhere that JW is the recipient of the Trustees award this year - that's why I checked Grammys - still can't find anything about that yup - here it is https://www.grammy.com/grammys/news/tina-turner-queen-2018-recording-academy-special-merit-awards Ricard
King Mark 3,730
is that going to be in the show? I'm watching right now but it's boring They just briefly mentioned JW's win of that lifetime award with a 3 second clip of him conducting Star Wars

rough cut 1,744
So it’s two awards. The Trustees award for a lasting impression on the recording industry and the Grammy for CMIYC. Cool.
pete 993
And the Catch Me award was given at a pre-broadcast ceremony: https://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/john-williams-billy-joel-grammy-awards-1.16407665
Jurassic Shark 13,365
Damn, JW has 24 wins out of 68 Grammy nominations. If he had the same win ratio for the Oscars that would make 18 wins... Of course, the Grammy has more categories where JW's eligible.

I guess I should re-listen following the score to see what are the changes. Edit: Oh, yes. I'm in Reflections now and it's a new arrangement, mainly the addition of the bass and its cadenza among other little things here and there.
