It takes me 14 hours to reach LA from Melbourne and it's horrible. Full credit to JW for even attempting this at his age, not to mention additional flights planned further into Europe. I go between LA and London a couple of times a year. It's between 9 1/2 to 12 hours depending on the route and winds. The Jet lag alone coming into London wrecks havoc on my system. 8 hours difference is no joke o the body. I'm in the gym daily just to try and compensate and it still takes me a week at least to start adjusting. 1 minute ago, Disco Stu said: Where have you been? Where have I been when? I would say I'm shocked but really, the way I have seen some of you talk on here, I'm not sure why I am. Gross! I'm heartbroken that he is that ill. I said from the start I wish he would not do this journey. I just got to London a few days ago to see Harry Potter and the concert with him. I do not care that he will not show up. I only care that he gets better and gets back to LA in health. What is wrong with you people? Calm down, swearing and other expletive responses are a common form of expressing great shock and disappointment at something. It's venting, hot air. Also, not all of us have regular easy access to London nor the RAH and might have made major logistical and financial allowances in order to attend the concert in question. I think the strong if perhaps unpalatable reactions were justified. As for Williams' unfortunate state of health, it should go without saying that we of course all wish him speedy recovery (we're all big fucking fans of his here, right?) and we are collectively very saddened by his unavoidable predicament. But for you to just wade in and start judging others for their gutted reactions in this thread, it's pretty shitty. jacksbrain, toothless, Nick1Ø66 and 3 others 4

For Abrams to show up at a John Williams concert while he's in town shooting another SW movie is totally within the realms of possibility, if he isn't shooting on location somewhere anyway. If you say damn it I spent over a thousand to see him but I hope he is OK, that's understandable, of course money is a factor to everyone, even myself. But not when it's all about the person who is inconvenienced. I can get shitty, but some here warrant that. I spent over 6K to get here early this year just for these concerts and had to rearrange my whole last part of the year, just for these concerts. HP, Williams and Star Wars in November. I still do not care that he can't show up. All I care about is that he hopefully comes out of this and can get back to LA. He is traveling on high altitudes with a pacemaker. He's hospitalized with 24/7 care. This is not minor. Miguel Andrade, Josh500 and Martyprod

Biodome 714
I really support the signed JWFan card idea, if it's possible to get a contact to deliver it to John. I had seen almost every piece that was being played int he concert live at least once . My only real purpose in travelling was watching John Williams conducting for the very first time in my life. In fact I would only be spending 1 day and a half in London, city I've never been to and would like to visit with time enough to spend. I'm deeply sad. Popular Post moz_1983 22
Good afternoon all. Long time fan of JW, first time poster. Like everyone else I'm absolutely gutted to find out about today's cancellations. More than anything because I've never had the opportunity to see him live and am flying to Vienna from Wales for his Saturday Vienna show. Whilst it goes without saying that everyone here wishes him a speed recovery, it's quite easy to understand why so many would be so upset for personal reasons. I'm still travelling to Vienna as everything by this point is non-refundable, and hell, it seems like an awesome place to go for a long weekend! But my god this is gutting. JW has been firmly at the top of my musical bucket list for decades, and given that I'm from Europe we don;t tend to get as many chances to see him live as our American counterparts. As mentioned, fingers crossed it's a passing illness and he makes an ultra quick recovery, and fingers crossed he gives us another shot next year perhaps! For now though, I'll remain in my pit of despair and continue wallowing in it. Mattris, crumbs, Quintus and 1 other

John travelled to London but was taken ill and is in hospital, where he is receiving very good care. It is his wish that the performance should go ahead, and his colleague and dear friend Maestro Dirk Brossé has kindly agreed to conduct the LSO for this very special event. Mr. Williams’ management said: "John is so sorry that an illness prevents him from conducting Friday's concert, and he’s grateful to his friend Maestro Dirk Brossé for taking the podium in his place. He so wishes he could be with everyone, and the knowledge that 5,000 of his friends will be joining together to celebrate his music is a great comfort to him as he recovers. He wishes everyone a very joyous evening of music.” Brossé is Music Director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and John Williams chose him as Principal Conductor of the Star Wars in Concert World Tour. The Royal Albert Hall, London Symphony Orchestra and Dirk Brossé wish Maestro Williams well for a speedy recovery. We do hope that you will enjoy this very special evening. If you have any questions please contact the box office on 020 7589 8212 with the name and order number attached to your booking. If you have booked Hospitality tickets we will contact you directly. We look forward to welcoming you to the Royal Albert Hall on Friday. Yours faithfully, Royal Albert Hall SHOOT!!! I was greatly looking forward to listening to the concert on Classic FM! I was also looking forward to the Vienna concert, which would have been released on CD. I hope and pray the Maestro fully recovers and feels better.
