John Crichton 4
In the "anatomy of a scene" special they do for Dumbledore's office on the second disc there is a few minutes of JW and Chris Columbus discussing the score. They say the usual stuff, but what's interesting is there is NO mention anywhere of William Ross or his contributions. They even show a clip of JW conducting, even though we know that Ross conducted this particular score. Guess the rumors about their disapointment with his work were true...And I'm still getting over seeing JW conduct without his black turtleneck on. Maybe it was a double. Ray Barnsbury 8
I was really hoping for more with Williams, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised. These DVDs are obviously made for young children; the female narrator's peppy voice for the build-a-scene drove me insane. I would have liked it to be like Williams on the A.I. DVD. Hearing him discuss Fawkes' theme would make me . . . salivate. Ray Barnsbury
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
yeah, it's obvious that William Ross' contribution on this score is being surpressed.Stefancos- who thinks that's pretty damned ingreatfull.

Joel 0
I know! I was surprised to see no Ross. I wasn't very happy with what was done with the CoS score anyway so i think it HIGHLY possible that Columbus and Williams weren't too empressed either. I wish JW had done it all!!! Lurker 5
Another observation, this one regarding Hagrid. It's so obvious when they use Robbie Coltrane and when they are using his much bigger double. Essentially, when it's a close up of his face, it's Coltrane. The rest of the time it's the double, hiding his face. There are a few exceptions, like at the end of the film, but most of the time, the doubles face is obscured, because Coltrane's not there. John Crichton 4
I know! I was surprised to see no Ross. I wasn't very happy with what was done with the CoS score anyway so i think it HIGHLY possible that Columbus and Williams weren't too empressed either. I wish JW had done it all!!!I agree. With all the wonderful new themes, COS had the potential to be a top tier score. What is there that is new from Williams is first rate. The Flying Car has become one of my favorite cues ever, and I love the increased use of Harry's theme. But there is just too much that's been "adapted" from the first movie. The only reason that SS cues are "adapted" and not just plain tracked, like AOTC, is because they were re-recorded and slightly changed to fit the scene they're in. A potentially great score only allowed to be half great.
Guest
The reason a lot of it was good was that most of it WAS redone by Williams.... Otherwise it would have been a really badly rehashed score.
Guest
Yeah but I think under the circumstances, it is definately the best adapted Williams' score (JP3 anyone?) that we've seen. Sure I'd rather have had Williams do the whole thing, but who wouldn't!! I would have liked it to be like Williams on the A.I. DVD. Hearing him discuss Fawkes' theme would make me . . . salivate. YES!!!!!!! I freakin LOVE Fawkes' Theme! It's one of the most amazing things Williams has written in a long time!
