Which Star Wars release will finally have this iconic jingle properly restored?

Yes I know that - I'm only an hour behind them, which is why I checked the site.

I wasn't sure if the 27th May release date was going to turn out to be an error. Not unheard of on Amazon! The physical copies say "out of stock".

I just checked.

All the CD versions of the 2018 remasters now say "Temporarily out of stock"

Meanwhile, the digital store is only selling the Jan 1 2017 digital versions

So they probably messed up when the put April 27th as the release date for the CDs, and they are actually coming out May 4th there like every other country.

Typical.

Ah. That'll be me not noticing the cover art had changed when I clicked the mp3 version. Whoops!

So the physical releases will be sourced from the new masters (scanned from the original film mixes), but the digital releases are just re-releases of the existing digital releases (sourced from the 2015 scan of the OST master tapes)?

No, I have no idea how you came to that conclusion.

Technically, they haven't even announced a new digital release (though I'm sure there will be one).

The only thing that happened recently was Amazon France attached their samples from the last digital edition to the page for the new CD edition.  That's it.

Just figured they were clips from a digital release. Didn't realise there isn't even a digital release coinciding with the physical release (figured that was commonplace these days from major labels).

In this case it's not really necessary since they just released the digital collection like a year ago. The original albums for the OT however were not released physically in 2016, which is why they are releasing them now.

You clearly didn't follow the entire conversation my post is a part of.

Oh, I'm 100% positive there WILL be a digital release, it simply won't show up on these sites until release day (May 4).

The press release at StarWars.com only mentioned the new CDs, but its practically guaranteed there will be digital/streaming editions AND vinyl versions too.

But if they just released them then what's the point? I mean, I don't doubt that they will release them, but wouldn't it be kind of redundant?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're saying.

You said that you think they'll release these new masters digitally on May 4th; and I was just saying that that would be redundant considering they just updated the digital versions in 2016 (although I don't doubt they would re-release them digitally again).

But these are new remasters from (presumably) better sources.

it doesn't make any sense that it would only be physical c.d.'s.

It would be strange if it were only physical, so much music today is digital only.

Apparently the "best available source" for these was an MP3 rip of the 1997 SE's. They've compiled the OST edits from those.

Sourced from the audiophile first generation 128kbps files upscaled to 24bit High-res wavs?

Wow, that's cool you got it early!

Is there any way you can take some pictures for us?

I'm not surprised to hear some wrong takes got put in.

Sounds more like they forgot to track the similar part of the same cue.

The was the 2016 Sony remaster pressed to vinyl

The May 4th editions are all brand new remasters re-edited from new session transfers supervised by Shawn Murphy
