Sure I can't be the only one where it depends on mood? I mean, some composers suit more or less any mood, but some only certain circumstances... although I did go with the very unoriginal choice of JW, but there are at least half a dozen others who could compete for a very close second.

This really should've been multiple choice. It's pretty hard for me to pin a composer and say "that is my favorite". It depends of the moment, of the mood, of what am Iistening.

Broadly speaking, I love all of the named composers on the thread, each one of them has at least one great score. But it's hard to point my absolute favorite. Maybe it's Williams, or Horner, or Goldsmith, or JNH (heh), I dunno.

Nobuo Uematsu I'd rate higher than Bruce Broughton or John Williams, and he may be my favorite soundtrack composer of all time, idk I haven't thought much about it.

But what I do know is Final Fantasy X is my favorite OST, for many years the only OST I have given a perfect score.

I feel Danny Elfman never gets quite enough respect on these boards. After JW, he's my favorite film composer, bar none. Followed by Horner, Goldsmith, Desplat and JNH (all of them at about the same rung on the ladder). JG is a late addition to my ranking; somehow, he escaped my attention until only two or three years ago --and it was only because of JWFan that I learned to appreciate him. (And right glad I am that I took the hint; JG is pretty great.)
