These chaps would like a word with you about the idea that flat caps = 'cuddly' -

Jon Landau: To me he was the ROLLING STONE editor who became  the manager of Bruce Springsteen and producer of BORN TO RUN.

That's another Jon Landau, who is still very much alive.

Are you sure that you're a writer? You don't seem to do much research.

Is it possible he is saying:

"When I think of Jon Landau, I think of this guy, not that Cameron producer person or whatever"

Possibly, except... Bruce put "RIP JL", and the other Jon Landau is definitely not dead.

I thought the Jon Landau who used to manage Bruce became a film producer.

Oops!

I thought 63 was too young for a guy who was active in the Seventies😀😗

R.I.P., John Mayall.

Damn! 90 is very good innings, so not gonna complain about that, but he was one of my dad's musical heroes. I listened to some of the Bluesbreakers albums via him, and dug it. RIP.

I've always been meaning to listen to more of his stuff. I was totally unaware of him until 2009, when I saw him live in Vienna, in a fabulous concert. He must have been 75 then but still played a mean and energetic blues. RIP.

I guess, playing blues is one of the few things, that you still can do well at a high age. I mean, it's not like windsurfing, free climbing or furniture packer.

I've not seen much of Delon's stuff, but I like Scorpio:

The entire middle section of the film takes place in Vienna, including a lenghty chase across the construction site of Vienna's first subway line. I always find it fascinating to see that area that I know so well in its current layout dug open completely, just a few years before I was born.

Sad news. What a powerhouse actor, who oozed of charisma. Favourite film for me is L'ECLISSE, followed by MONSIEUR KLEIN.

Yeah, just sit back admit that you've been outclassed, out-dressed, and just about out-everythinged in every conceivable way. Poor Mick. Now, where did he leave that Mars Bar?

They just know that if they start him up, he'll never stop.

L' ECLISSE is a good one!

BTW I've read conflicting reports about his sexuality.

Anything reliable? Just curious.

Didn't he have a tryst with David Bowie? Inquiring minds want to know...

No love for Donahue, eh. Bunch of Oprah fanboys.

1) Didn't know he had died.

2) Didn't realize he was still alive.

Wow. He used to be EVERYWHERE and then he just kind of vanished. RIP.

James Darren has passed away.

https://variety.com/2024/film/news/james-darren-gidget-moondoggie-star-trek-1236127756/?fbclid=IwY2xjawFDNiNleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHUYdB4HBBGTXT_WMclLIrEePVfH7EZ6IJRc7N9RqvOmjMiHw6mq-EiN3Qg_aem_HAldYPbcryvt38pl_BCRaQ

As I wrote on FSM:

Sorry to hear this.

I've always confused James Darren with Johnny Desmond a bit, probably because they both have a John Williams connection across several things, and they're both JDs. Desmond passed away decades ago, so I somehow also thought Darren was dead. Good to hear that he reached 88, which is pretty good innings.

But in either case, it is - as I said - the Williams connection that made me aware of him. I'm too young and too non-American to have experienced his fame as a teenage idol etc. as it was happening.

So these Williams connections were THE TIME TUNNEL (incidentally a series I fondly remember from my youth, as it was shown in syndication on Super Channel, but I wasn't aware of Darren as a name at the time, nor Williams for that matter), BECAUSE THEY'RE YOUNG, GIDGET GOES TO ROME, DIAMOND HEAD and even - sorta - THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, where Darren had a role and Williams orchestrated a bit. Even a non-film album recording from 1959, conducted and arranged by Williams.

So the Williams-Darren connection is "tight", as the kids say.

Apparently, all the cosmetic procedures that are available today can't do much for the neck... How many aging Hollywood stars have we seen with smooth, tight faces but wrinkly, sagging necks?

John Williams has remedied this nicely by wearing turtlenecks.

Mendes was a legend, even I have heard of him. He was on the same fame level as Heitor Villa-Lobos, João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim, really (if we're talking international Brazilian music exports).
