My first memory of her, as Thetis in 'Clash of the Titans'.

Whoa! :(

An incalculable loss to the acting profession, and to the British entertainment industry.

I know she was 89 and not in the best of health, but it's still a shock.

I guess there's only Judi, and Helen left, now.

R.I.P., Miss Jean Brodie.

Agreed, @Chen G., and Janet Baker, but I was talking specifically about female British actors.

Gwyneth Jones IS a female British actress!

She shared the screen with Smith just a few years back.

We just watched Murder by Death last week. She was WONDERFUL in that. (And that leaves Richard Narita and James Cromwell from that cast.)

I'm sure many of these distinguished actors are / were a little embarrassed that they are best remembered for Clash of the Titans. But they were all pretty terrific in it.

Do you mean the opera singer?

Kind of stretching it a bit to call her an actor, but it's you, so... I'll allow it :)

She was in two or three movies, and also on the stage she's a fabulous actress.

For me she’ll always be Granny Wendy. Her first scene in Hook when she walks gently down the stairs just makes her seem warm and inviting like my grandma is, ready to give you a hug🥺😢

Shame. He had such charisma. He did get to do Beverly Hills Cop one last time, but sadly not Midnight Run 2, which has been rumored for some time.

I was never into country music, but it was fun encountering Kristofferson as an actor over the years. Always came out of left field a little bit, because I primarily connected him with music. But he performed well, and I love many of the films he starred in - the BLADE films, ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (Scorsese's debut film), PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID (featuring the acting appearance of another musician, Bob Dylan), the massively underrated HEAVEN'S GATE, LONE STAR, D-TOX, PLANET OF THE APES....

Not many left of that generation of country artists. Crossing my fingers for 91-year-old Willie Nelson.

You're confusing this with Who's That Knocking At My Door, funnily enough because both titles are complete sentences lol. Alice is Scorsese's fourth movie. Kristofferson is great in it.

Ah yes, you're right. It's not the first time I've confused the two. Put against each other, they almost make out a small story in themselves. :D

To make matters worse, I've sometimes called BOXCAR BERTHA for BOXCAR ALICE, LOL...

No love for A STAR IS BORN?

Not really my genre, no. But it's been ages since I saw it. I tried watching the remake more recently, but definitely not for me, so tuned out quickly.

He's also in a couple of other John Sayles films (besides Lone Star) - Limbo and Silver City. Haven't seen the latter yet; it doesn't have a great reputation, but I'd like to see it anyway just because it's Sayles.

Not just complete sentences, but in fact Who's That Knocking at My Door? Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore together make a nice little poem.

First film with him that I saw was Convoy. That's ages ago. But I remember, I liked the movie and was impressed by the main character being well played by a country star.

I was trying to describe the song Convoy and what a huge hit it was to someone last week. They had no idea what I was talking about.

I do—thanks to The Simpsons.

I'm two years late, but while we're here: RIP C.W. McCall. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._W._McCall

I don't think you can really even begin to grasp what a bat-shit crazy time the 1970's were without knowing that Send in the Clowns, Convoy, Rocky Mountain High, and Star Wars were all big hits on the radio.

Yes, well, Cooper is no Kristofferson and Ga Ga is certainly no Babs.

Give it another chance, Thor; you might like it.

Ah, shame. THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is one of the most important and influential soundtracks in my life. If memory serves, Ken was on-stage for an "Oogie Boogie" performance when I was at Royal Albert Hall for the first Elfman/Burton concert some years back. But I don't really know him for anything else.
