No, I can’t recommend you blind buy it. It’s campy, dated, oozing 70s disco aesthetic, with lots of sex and spandex. A GREAT theme by Stu Phillips and Glen Larson. BUT… it may be worth a look. There’s an irresistible charm and friendliness in it. Warm and approachable in contrast to the dark and disturbing stuff we get now. Just don’t expect to take it seriously. 8 hours ago, filmmusic said: He was a handsome man I see.. I can’t help but smile at your phrasing. That’s almost verbatim how his robot friend Dr. Theopolis describes him upon first meeting him.

Andy 6,930 Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 Glen Larson also got a co-credit for writing the theme to Battlestar Galactica. Now, I'm the biggest Stu Phillips fan, and have read his biography, but it's unclear how much Larson, who was musically inclined and had a band, contributed to that theme. He may have had a knack for memorable tunes more than we know. Tallguy 1
Jim 6,136 Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 The Buck Rogers theme was damn cool. Nick1Ø66 and Andy 2
Naïve Old Fart 12,533 Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 The BUCK ROGERS theme was not as rousing or as militaristic as the theme for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, but it had a nice playful and romantic quality. Andy and Nick1Ø66 2

I love the hook for the part "What am I, who am I, what will I be?" and the horns that play right after it are amazing. It's MUCH shorter than BSG, unfortunately. But it packs a punch. Maybe it's along the lines of that one? Or maybe worse? Although I'm not sure I'm very keen on the 70s disco aesthetic.

If we’re switching to Flash Gordon then it simply has to be Ornella Muti!! For those unfamiliar with the Buck Rogers feature film edit, the opening credits are definitely Bond inspired. Features the lyrics @Tallguy was quoting. An awesome pop theme. https://youtu.be/BINijYepahA?t=70 Naïve Old Fart 1
