Pellaeon 593
Is there anywhere you can buy this recording? Will
Will 2,215
Not that exact recording. But you can buy the same suite on the Spielberg/Williams Collection released last spring.
Tom 4,654
I predict that in 100 years, this will one of the Williams pieces still played at concerts. Nathan95 and Gurkensalat

Nah, it’ll be the Star Wars Main Title, we’ll never hear the end of it. Will and Jediwashington
Popular Post Arpy 4,145
Listened to the suite on the Williams/Spielberg collection and thought how much I loved that suite alone, just frolicking from theme to theme with childlike curiosity, dancing across so many tones that remind me of the heyday of Hook or ET. Just fun and magical. I remember being slightly underwhelmed when I first heard the score, but it really has become something special for me. bollemanneke 3,346
Just wondering, Keith Lockhart performed this piece during the BBC Prom, but left out the nightmare theme... right? So which version did JW officially publish, the one with or without nightmares? I really liked that part.
Jediwashington 59
I don't know, but there is this incredible chromatic circle of 5th sequence in "The Queen's Dream" starting at 1:20 and following with a statement of Sophie's theme that is harmonized with some really fun layers and rhythmic layering that I think is tragically missing from this suite. It may be one of my favorite moments in the film score wise. I sort of know why he left it out, since the key is slightly different (only like a step off I think), but I can't help but think it would be a much better transition then the sequence he wrote at about 5:30 in this recording. The official published version on Hal Leonard Signature Series is the one JW is performing live since last year. It's pretty much the same he recorded for the Spielberg/Williams vol.3 album, but there are a couple of bars added at the beginning of the "nightmare" section (right before the ostinato begins) and a couple more in the coda during the final exposition of Sophie's theme. It looks like Williams tampered with it a few times before having it printed. The people at Hal Leonard were asked to wait for updates several times before going to print the final published version.
