SilverTrumpet 638
For an English project, I have to put together a soundtrack of no more than 8 songs that would go with the book "Great Expectations". I am doing 3 classical, 3 rock, and writing 2 short solos for the trumpet for the other two. I know everything except for the rock songs. Can someone help me find rock songs that would be good for a "Great Expectations" soundtrack? Thanks in advance.

Melange 446
Hi Edag, Hmm..Hard to choose unless i know which kind of exact scene those titles are going to refer to. I've got plenty of ideas from classical and soundtracks. But you've already chosen some. So i'll go more for songs, and add a few classical/soundtrack at the end. On the later, ignore the track titles completely. But listen to the music and see if it fits what i thought you were referring to. If you dont have some of the songs i mention, then i can give Mp3's.Difference in Class - "People are Strange" (The Doors)"People are strange when you're a strangerFaces look ugly when you're aloneWomen seem wicked when you're unwantedStreets are uneven when you're downWhen you're strangeFaces come out of the rainWhen you're strangeNo one remembers your nameWhen you're strangeWhen you're strangeWhen you're strangePeople are strange when you're a strangerFaces look ugly when you're aloneWomen seem wicked when you're unwantedStreets are uneven when you're downWhen you're strangeFaces come out of the rainWhen you're strangeNo one remembers your nameWhen you're strangeWhen you're strangeWhen you're strangeWhen you're strangeFaces come out of the rainWhen you're strangeNo one remembers your nameWhen you're strangeWhen you're strangeWhen you're strange"For a general song for Pip's story, then this is perfect."All i think about is you" (Harry Nilsson). How can I runaway, from darkness at the close of day? When all I think about is youNot knowing where I?m going, what am I to do?When all I think about is youI?ll stand an hour knocking , knowing that my heart is mocking me,She does?nt live here anymore.I don?t know why I bother?what else can I do?When all I think about is you.Dream maker, heart breaker, how do dreams come true? When all I dream about is you.I?ll stand an hour knocking, knowing that my heart is mocking me.She does?nt live here anymore?..How can I run away?..from darkness at the close of dayWhen all it think about it youNot knowing where I?m going?.what am I to do?I don?t know why I bother, what else can I do?When all I think about is youuuuuuu.Relationship with the convinct - Father&Son (Jaws)Reunion with the convict, later - Regaining a son (7 years in Tibet)Keeping the convict from being caught - Dennis steals the embryo (Jurassic Park)Thoughts of London - "Troika" by Prokofiev.Perfect if referring to the journey and him arriving in the busy city.Innocence as a child - "Remember" (Harry Nilsson)This is a beautiful song if referring to his past memory"Long ago,far away, life was clear;close your eyes..."Remember," is a place from long ago;"Remember", filled with ev'rything you know.Remember, when you're sad and feeling down;remember, turn around.Remember, life is just a memory.Remember, close your eyes and you can see.Remember, think of all that life can be;remember. Dream, love is only in a dream;remember. Remember, life is never as it seems;dream...Dream,love is only in a dream;remember. Remember, life is never as it seems;dream...Long ago, far away, life was clear;Cloooose your eyes."Innocence as a child - "A tree for my bed" (Jurassic Park)Cliche for sure. But still has that music box quality about itEstella's Theme - "Beginning of a friendship" (E.T)The Convict - "Morning After" (Basic instinct)If used early on in the meeting, then it's nice and ominous
Many 0
How about "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables for Innocence as a Child? There is a castle on a cloudI like to go there in my sleepAren't any floors for me to sweepNot in my castle on a cloud. There is a room that's full of toysThere are a hundred boys and girlsNobody shouts or talks too loudNot in my castle on a cloudThere is a lady all in whiteHolds me and sings a lullabyShe's nice to seeAnd she's soft to touchShe says: "Cosette I love you very much"I know a place where no one's lostI know a place where no one criesCrying at all is not allowedNot in my castle on a cloud.Anthony

Melange 446
Oh right. How about Monty Python's "Always look on the bright side of life?" LOLActually, i think a classic piece would suit that more. A Strauss waltz perhaps?Or there is always Adam and the Ant's "Prince Charming". But that's quite extreme. Very fitting lyrics though : If you've seen the music video, it helps.Don't you ever, don't you ever, stop being dandyShowing me you're handsomeDon't you ever, don't you ever, stop being dandyShowing me you're handsomePrince Charming, Prince Charming, ridicule is Nothing to be scared ofDon't you ever, don't you ever, stop being dandyShowing me you're handsomeDon't you ever, don't you ever, lower yourselfForgetting all your standardsDon't you ever, don't you ever, lower yourselfForgetting all your standardsPrince Charming, Prince Charming, ridicule isnothing to be scared ofDon't you ever don't you ever, stop being dandyShowing me you're handsomeSilk or leather or a feather, respect yourself andAll of those around youSilk or leather or a feather, respect yourself andAll of those around youPrince Charming, Prince Charming,
