A true new SACD mix or just a racket?

I know several "false" SACD hit the market few years ago, made by EMI in the early 2000...

Which one? This one looks legit.

I know they tried it with some Charles Aznavour albums, it was a commercial failure.  We learned few time later, that they used the stereo mixes and and tweaked them with an equalizer to make a false multi-channel mix. They were legit Universal France EMI CDs.

Don't always trust big labels when they play with their back catalogue. Money is a concern for them, not quality.

EDIT: Sorry it was few years before Universal, it was EMI. But I doubt they are the only label which tried to sell "false" SACD on the market...

Now, I'm not usually one to advocate violence except for non-serious quips, but...

whoever did this deserves to get shot, but not immediately fatally.

The last Williams related SACD was CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and that too was remastered by Steve Hoffman (who did the DCC RAIDERS cd and Vinyl) That SACD was marginal improvement since it used a stereo album master. Honestly, after LLL's superb presentation and sound quality I didn't feel the need to revisit the CE3K SACD.

I’ll wait for the expanded release.

Then when it’s released, like SPR, with no remastering and only two minutes of new material, I’ll skip it.

So basically you're just patiently waiting to skip it.

This SACD will probably be the digital master from 1993 upconverted to DSD.

I got the opportunity to listen to the so called K2HD remastering, which claims to be remastered at 100kHz 24bit. No difference at all from the previous CD. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same thing with CE3K 192kHz 24bit DVD-Audio from 2004 and the SACD from 2015. Both were sourced from the album master. Even though Steve Hoffman remastered the SACD, I still struggle to hear any difference from both these super ultra mega blaster resolution releases to the 1990 Varése standard resolution 44.1kHz 16bit CD.

I say beware of those asian reissues. If it's important, it will get an international release.

And probably, we'll get a much better thing than this SACD for the 20th anniversary of SL.

I own both editions of Schindler's List. Directly comparing the ripped files from each CD (Jewish Town as the selection), the K2HD CD is better than the original: the sound is clearer, more forward, and slightly louder. The improvement is substantial enough that I'm confident I would get a 100% score in a blind comparison test.
