Hans Zimmer's WONDER WOMAN 1984 (2020)

It's really bad.  Not sure why he thought it was worth releasing.

The album originally was only going to be 17 tracks, so I figure it was a last minute addition to have a suite on the album after every prior superhero score of his included at least one. I'm guessing he thought the romantic material didn't have enough play in the main program, so he included that particular piece.

Oof, my last post was back in April. Time flies.

Just wanted to say I've listen to the score twice today and thought it was nice :)

See you all in another 8 months for my opinion on another score!

Only saw the film and listened to the score once, but it's the first time in a long time Zimmer has impressed.  The first few tracks are really standout, and joyful.

Until these particular orchestrations, I never realized how much the syncopated rhythms of WW's motif remind me of 1980s Goldsmith action music, which of course is totally appropriate for this film.

Are the End Credits a fresh suite or just a reprise of previous cues?

A CD is a replicated disc, made from scratch with your content. This will have a silver bottom to it. The manufacturing process to create a CD is commonly referred to as 'Replication'.

A CD-R is a blank disc that we record your content onto. This disc has a greenish / silver hue to it on the bottom. The manufacturing process to record a CD-R is commonly referred to as 'Duplication'.

Quality wise, what is the difference?

The data (the ones and zeros) is identical

The physical item?  Some say pressed CDs last longer than burned CDRs.  Dunno how much empirical data there is on the subject

Thanks. Do they charge more for music on CD vs CD-Rs?

All of my CD-Rs that I recorded music on when I first got a CD-R drive in about 2000 are completely blank and unreadable now.

It hugely depends on the quality of the CD-R and at some level the quality of the burning process (there's always redundant data to avoid that minor scratch will end destroying the music). I never bought an official CD-R from Amazon (but I assume there perfectly fine and goo), but I can tell you that some cheap brands made CDs that won't last much (there are very transparent) and they are very easy to damage. But in any case, if the CD-R is ok you won't hear the difference at all.

The track from the sessions called Already Gone has at the end the arrangement of Murphy's Adagio, just as it plays in the film. And there are a couple of alternates of that track

Oh.  Is it credited, or did he rip it off without credit?

Yes, it's credited in the end credits along with the John Murphy piece. The 'Beautiful Lie' track from 'Batman V Superman' is not credited, I'm not sure if that is because it is already owned by Warner Bros or that it is already a Zimmer composition.

Ah.  If its credited in the film than it's an oversight that it's on the FYC page and will probably be removed when someone realizes it.  Definitely breaks the academy rules to be on there (though it doesn't necessarily break the rules of other voting organizations I suppose)

  • 3 weeks later...

Is someone able to message me directions to find the recording sessions? I can’t find them anywhere!

Also, Hans-Zimmer.com has posted on Facebook that a second album is coming, titled Sketches from WW84.
