So that was a "friendship kiss" in the fountain scene??

You're outclassed, dude, give it a rest. Almost every JWFan who has a reputation for being rude and belligerent are absolute masters in matters of love and romance. So quit trying.

That’s Hollywood!

Hollywood is where an American plays an Eastern European and a Welsh beauty plays an American (?) beauty, I guess!

Anyway, these two couldn't be more awkward with each other... It's embarrassing just watching it.

I love how "Navorski's Tale" starts fairly simple and straightforward, but gets more complex and convoluted with each repeat of the main theme.... The best indication of how difficult a piece is to play is to listen to it performed by other orchestras and performers.

This geeky kid does a pretty good job at the beginning, but he struggles with the more complex passages.... :D

The Chinese do a better job at this! Might be the best rendition of this piece except for the original.

It just dawned on me that the film is old enough for that home video taken three years later to be in 4:3 SD. Ouch.

The kid does a pretty good job with most of it. I think the later sections are just JW showing off what Bernstein can do, helped by JW's love for jazz.

I imagine the clarinet as Navorski's voice. He talks and talks, always friendly, good-natured, somewhat stubborn, and with a twinkle in the eye, but the more he talks, the more he gets into trouble and the more complicated the situation gets. All that, with a tinge of Eastern European folk music, as well as jazz.

No, it's not JW showing off, JW knew exactly what he was doing! :D

Best post I've ever read from you!

The film is terrible, beyond endurance.

I'm really trying to like the film. And it's very hard.... :D

The only decent thing about it, is Alex McDowell's extraordinary airport set.

I would have said the only decent thing about it is its score! But yeah, the set is not too shabby, either.
