The Official Synth Thread

Brundlefly

Recommended Posts

The intention of this thread is the exchange of information about synthesizer, the creation of sounds and the electronic modification of synthetic or organic sounds.

Whether you wanna recommend or ask for a great synthesizer model...

Whether you wanna explain or ask for the creation of a specific synth sound...

That's all up to you.

My first question is:

Does anyone know about any criteria that are helpful to recreate...

  1. the "wind synth" from The Philosopher's Stone,
  2. the "drop synth" from The Mummy,
  3. and the "pyro synth" (or "synth fart") from Rambo: First Blood Part II?

There is already an all-encompassing thread about synths, electronic music, samples libraries, physical modelling, electronic music artists, etc.

Your thread is about electronic music. This one's supposed to be about synthesizer and creation of sounds. It's no musical genre thread, but a craftmanship thread like "The Composer's Thread".

Again, 'The Amazing Electronic Music Thread' is about synths, electronic music, samples libraries, physical modelling, electronic music artists, etc. It says so in the first post.

Alex's thread is more about people sharing artist recommendations with each other.

This thread is more about the specifics of how certain synth sounds are created for film scores.

They're not the same.

Thank you Jay for dictating what my thread is about.

Fans of electronic music, this is the thread you have been waiting for! We can discuss the music, composers, musicians, equipment, synthesizers, samples (orchestral and electronic), ... you name it! Jay names it.

Only at JWfan!

PS: Please delete all the synth gear talk in my thread. It was wrong of me.

Gotta side with Alex on this one, his first post is very clear.

That said, I can see why someone would want a more narrow thread, but even then, I remember seeing a thread like this already (if it wasn't Alex's). I remember @Sharky contributing to it a lot.

Huh?  I'm not dictating what it's about, just observing what I've seen in it  I certainly could have missed some things, of course.

Sure, but has it actually been used for all the different ways outlined there?

Yes, exactly, this is a more narrow thread.  It's specifically about how to create certain synth sounds used in film scores.  I don't remember seeing that discussed in the other thread, but I of course could be wrong.

And yes, I thought we already had a thread about film score synths too....

When I created The Amazing Electronic Music Thread, synthesizers were almost regarded as the instruments of Lucifer around here, so in order to have some traffic, I decided the thread should be about many aspects, from synths to synth artists.
