tomsmoviemadness 5,005 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 ‘Disclaimer’ First Look: Alfonso Cuarón’s Thriller Series With Cate Blanchett Sets October Premiere on Apple TV+ Quote Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Renée Knight, “Disclaimer” follows acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), who “built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others.” Per the logline, “When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).” “Disclaimer” also stars Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon. The series is produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Cuarón executive produces alongside Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine, and Steve Golin. Author Knight is a co-executive producer. Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki, who worked with Cuarón on “Gravity,” “Birdman” and “The Revenant,” serves as director of photography with Oscar nominee Bruno Delbonnel. The two are also EPs alongside Donald Sabourin and Carlos Morales. Oscar and Grammy winner Finneas O’Connell (“Barbie,” “No Time to Die”) is composing the score.
Edmilson 12,594 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Jared Padalecki speaks out on The CW's "cheap content" strategy after "Walker" got canceled. "I feel like The CW that I was a part of last year is not The CW that I was a part of under [former chairman and CEO] Mark Pedowitz for that entire, almost 20-year stretch. They’re just changing the network around, where it’s not really going to be a TV network as much as it’s going to be, 'Here’s something fun for an hour that you’ll never watch again, but hopefully you watch it. And it’s cheap!' And I hate to say that, but I’m just being honest. I mean, f*ck it. They can’t fire me again. I’m just being brutally honest. I think it felt to me like they were looking for really easy, cheap content that they could fill up time with." https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/jared-padalecki-the-cw-walker-series-cancellation-1236047009/
Edmilson 12,594 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Showrunner Accused of ‘Toxic, Bullying, Manipulative, and Retaliatory Behavior’ Twelve staffers and a HR complaint obtained by Rolling Stone accuse Steve Blackman of fostering a hostile workplace. Blackman calls the claims “entirely untrue” and “completely absurd” In an unrelated note: the word "toxic" is one of the stupidest and most ridiculous Gen Z slogans ever created (and there are many) that the media has adopted in a pathetic attempt to be relevant. Just say the guy was unprofessional.

Just say the guy was unprofessional. People make serious allegations about someone in a position of power and your takeaway from that is to dispute terminology?! Marian Schedenig 1
Parker Luciani 10,300 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 The first person I heard use the term wasn't Gen Z.
Edmilson 12,594 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 I just think it's a dumb way to phrase it. Makes them look very unprofessional. Instead of actual journalists, they look like teens on Twitter.
Tom Guernsey 3,891 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 A person can be unprofessional and create a toxic working environment. Seems a reasonable enough distinction to me.
Edmilson 12,594 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Indeed, but my problem is with a "respectable" journalistic vehicle like Rolling Stone using Twitter slang created by teenagers in their headline. It makes them look like they're desperate to be relevant among the "modern audiences" and the social media crowd. Still, just a pet peeve of mine.

CinderTech 1,822 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 If I wanted to convey that someone was doing foul play, then I don't think toxic would be ill-fitting as an adjective. Especially when it immediately gets across that people are gradually being drained, rather than instantly becoming exhausted. I'm not about to have over/misuse kill a solid metaphor/descriptor. Edmilson 12,594 Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Urgh, it's from Waititi. Can't stand that guy. I have zero tolerance for everything he's pumping out nowadays. And one trailer was enough for me to get tired of the stupid jokes.

tomsmoviemadness 5,005 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 It's not coming until January 17th!! Edmilson and Jay 1 1
tomsmoviemadness 5,005 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Yeah, when it's out it will have almost been 3 years.
Jay 46,770 Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 3 seasons of The Bear and 4 seasons of Slow Horses will be released after Season 1 of Severance, and before Season 2 of Severance.
LSH 1,098 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I sincerely hope the wait will be worth it; Severance was one of my top shows of… whatever year it was it came out. A24 1
Edmilson 12,594 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 So 2025 will have: Severance Season 2; Stranger Things Final Season (potentially); All of which aired their previous season in 2022.
Jay 46,770 Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Yes, and also Peacemaker 2 and White Lotus 3, which each aired their prior seasons in 2022.
A24 5,249 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Without Severance means that Ripley is the best show of 2024! (IMO, of course) Tallguy 1

Ripley is very stylish (it can be watched for the photography alone) and Hitchcocky. So if you feel that this is you then watch it is what you must do. Tallguy 1
tomsmoviemadness 5,005 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 There's also a teaser trailer for the 2nd season. Tallguy 1
Jay 46,770 Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 I never saw season 1; how was it? Love the cast
Jay 46,770 Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 to Begin Filming in January 2025 With Entire Main Cast Returning I've still never seen it
Jay 46,770 Posted July 16, 2024 Author Posted July 16, 2024 ‘Poker Face’ Adds Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, Gaby Hoffmann & Kumail Nanjiani To Season 2 One of the most stacked with actors show there is
Edmilson 12,594 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Despite being the "most hated person" on the internet (according to Star Wars fans), Rian Johnson sure knows how to attract big name actors to his projects.

Jay 46,770 Posted July 17, 2024 Author Posted July 17, 2024 Girls5Eva is a funny show with funny songs, but "The Medium Time" isn't one of the highlights out of all the original songs they've done, IMO; Strange choice! Hmm, I guess most of my favorites are from prior seasons, and not season 3 which is being nominated now. Oh well.
tomsmoviemadness 5,005 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 I'm pretty happy with all the nominees. I think Shogun is the clear frontrunner, with Ripley in the limited series category. I'm delighted to see Walton Goggins nominated for Fallout, but feel that Ella Purnell was snubbed pretty hard. That show doesn't work without her and she should've been nominated alongside Goggins. Oh, and Rebecca Ferguson should've been nominated for Silo! Silo as a whole was pretty much ignored expect for some technical stuff. Maybe for season 2?? Yavar Moradi 1
Nick1Ø66 8,448 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 While the 1980 Shogun series & Jarre's outstanding score are superior to the new version, the update was still excellent and the clear best show on this list. The show and the score both deserve the win.
