Here on the southern hemisphere, the summer is actually from December to March. I was born in May 1993, so let's see, the most important movie scores that were released on the summer I was 15 were...

Frost/Nixon - Hans Zimmer

The Reader - Nico Muhly

The Day the Earth Stood Still - Tyler Bates

Gran Torino - Kyle Eastwood, Michael Stevens

The Tale of Desperaux - William Ross

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Alexandre Desplat

Marley & Me - Theodore Shapiro

The Spirit - David Newman

Valkyrie - John Ottman

Revolutionary Road - Thomas Newman

Defiance - James Newton Howard

Watchmen - Tyler Bates

Monsters vs Aliens - Henry Jackman

Gosh, what a crappy year. From this list, I think I like only the scores of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road and Defiance, even though I only heard their albums a few years later.

Actually, most of my adolescence was pretty crappy in terms of blockbuster movies. With a few exceptions, 2009, 2010 and 2011 had lots of bad stuff, both on movie terms and on score terms.

He forgot Indy 4!

I didn't, but Indy 4 came ou in May 2008. As I said on my previous post, technically my fifteenth summer ran from December 2008 to March 2009 - and it was a horrid time for films and scores.

Also, I didn't used to listen that much film music on that time. To be honest, I don't even think I had internet on my house back then (I remember staying on the school's library every week downloading Lost episodes in poor quality). I only listened to (and was bored by) Kingdom of the Crystal Skull many years later, after I've heard the "important" titles of Williams filmography and was discovering his less celebrated works.

That's actually the best quality to watch Lost in.

Indeed, specially considering it was the later seasons, when the show had already jumped the shark.

But I was still fascinated by it, lol. While the episode was downloading, I remember reading lots and lots of theories on internet forums.

One of the best things about LOST was that with the exception of a dip in season 3, it just kept getting better, season after season, until we were all a sobbing mess at the end of it.  I wasn't 15 at the time, but I WAS 15 the year that The Matrix and The Straight Story came out - two more soundtracks of my fifteenth summer!

Pardon me while I adjust my Zimmer frame!

Let me see, said he adjusting his spectacles. 1974. My, that was a long time ago. But if I try hard enough to see through the misty corridors of my  befuddled mind I think I see THE DOVE and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN by Barry, THE TOWERING INFERNO and EARTHQUAKE by Williams, GOLD by Bernstein and PAPILLON and CHINATOWN by Goldsmith.

I'm tired now, wake me again in another five years.......

With all the respect to the great music published in that year, 1989 was and will always be the year of The Cure's "Desintegration", one of my top five albums ever.
