As much as I'd love someone like Hurwitz on this (they've already got like all of Chazelle's people on this film save for Damien himself), this. They've all but officially confirmed that this film is going to be a proper conclusion to the story that began in Casino/QoS so continuity and story wise, bringing back Arnold is the best option Cerebral Cortex

crumbs 14,295
No disrespect to Romer but this is fantastic news. Perhaps producers were unhappy with his demos? He seems like the director's choice but maybe he was out of his depth, similar to Yates bringing in Hooper for Potter. Hopefully the lateness of the decision forces their hand to return to an experienced Bond composer. Bodes very well for Arnold getting a call. If it ends up being Balfe I'll be sick. Naïve Old Fart 9,493
This is absolutely the best news about NTTD, that I've read since the return of Jeffrey Wright. The Illustrious Jerry 3,356
Perfect opportunity for Justin Hurwitz to step up and prove his metal by outgrowing the boundaries of Chazelle's productions and taking on a big time movie with another director! DRACULA probably wrapped in July, allowing DA to start scoring in August. He's probably done most, by now. Even if he hadn't, I couldn't imagine him say "No, ta", to Bond. Indeed, he wouldn't let the opportunity of returning to score his favorite franchise slip if they called him. Also, doesn't he have a co-composer for Dracula, like on Sherlock? So, the other guy can handle what is left of the series, if there's anything.

He posted a photo from the recording sessions didn't he this week? (either FB or Twitter) Likely means that he's probably written Dracula. If they are indeed getting a new composer and they need the music done by a month or so before the film comes out, it gives the replacement at least 4 months which seems reasonable. Apparently, the Academy Award winner composer had been lobbying for his Remote Control composers to score the upcoming James Bond blockbuster No Time to Die. Yeah, this feels too calculated to be legit. Especially with the composing team being all the main co-composers he's had over the past few years, when he'd be more likely to have smaller people involved these days. It'd have to be Mazzarro, Kawczynski, and a couple of randos for me to be convinced.
