No matter what the end result is: I'm still glad it's Zimmer and not Balfe. Sure, "what's the difference," you could say. But given how much Fallout still leaves a bit of a pit in my stomach, I'm sure NTTD will at least be something noteworthy within the presumed studio demands to make RCP Bond.

Fallout has some good bits, and I've grown to like a chunk of it, helped by the film being really good.

NTTD could have some good bits - it's just that generic RCP drone that does that clip no favours. How can Zimmer pretend to be innovating when he uses devices like that?

Fallout I think is just affected by the virtue of what it represents than what the actual music has. It's not bad on its own, but given how much I really like most of the previous ones, I just can't help but feel disappointed.

Someone did bring up the possibility of the NTTD clip maybe using temp, but given the film is pretty much done at this point, why would they have an earlier version of the scene lying around to just post like that? Either way: 45 seconds is still nothing, you scoundrels.

The Arnold approach is fine - I have no issue with Zimmer (or whomever's) minimal style. It's just that damned drone that annoys me.

It's not a "style". It's a lifeless piece of shite.

A music editor could inject more energy with library music.

It's typical modern blockbuster fare. Not that Arnold's schematic stuff was much better. Time to bury this relic.

Wow, what ignorance.

To be honest, I'm coming around to the philosophy that not every scene needs to be scored. Even though Arnold's music accentuates some of the moments well, it just feels OTT.

Honestly, that ^ was better than what an A-list composer that has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do seems to have produced.

oh wow thank you so much. I know it’s not perfect but I just had to try hahaha. Good practice for me at least

If anyone's interested, I did a "Mission Impossible 4/5 style" rescore of the No Time To Die Jimmy Fallon clip. I used motifs from the Billie Eilish song.

I'm a music composition noob so go easy on me hahaha

Post "The Lion King", Zimmer has a whopping 11 projects lined up, only 1 of which has released so far (well, 2 if you count the Canadian release of Sponge on the Run)

Okay, Space Jam 2 has not actually been confirmed to have HZ onboard. It'd have been mentioned and listed on the website at this point, given how much Hybrid has been able to confirm some stuff prior to official announcements, releases, or leaks.

Oh yeah, and there's also the fact this is the only official composer announcement I have found, long after all the rumors of Zimmer's involvement:

Hmm.  iTunes never removed Zimmer's score album from their store after the film was pushed back, and now it's Nov 13 in Australia and New Zealand.  But I guess you can't actually buy it?

I know this is an old post but I only just checked. It's still listed as pre-release with the date updated to 2 April 2021.

I'm just happy there's a Gun Barrel sequence again! Rewatching the whole series from the start, those are sadly missed in the Craig-era (bonus points to Casino Royale's very creative integration though).

Yeah. Hopefully, press copies will arrive a little earlier than that, but not by much. The promo of WONDER WOMAN 1984, for example, was sent out more or less at the same time as the commercial release. Seems to be a recurring strategy for tentpole pictures like this.

Apologies if this was already shared.
David Arnold’s music for this N. Peal commercial from 2019. I didn’t know about this until now.

Man that guy really wants another crack at Bond.

Regardless. I’m looking forward to hearing Zimmers score.

Miles better than anything in the last two Newman scores. Far and beyond anything in those, and better than the entirety of Zimmer's. I'm completely serious.

And fuck off with "you haven't heard it yet".

Yes. Hell I enjoyed those six seconds from 1:32-1:37 more than anything I heard in the last two scores.

It's an absolute travesty that Arnold wasn't brought back after Mendes/Newman departed. He captured the essence of Barry and Bond better than anyone.

I'll give Zimmer (or whoever actually composed the score, I doubt he did more than a handful of cues) the benefit of the doubt but I'm resigned to the fact it'll probably be hot garbage, indistinguishable from the generic crap which passes for 'film music' nowadays.
