Popular Post john_ub 14 Posted October 28, 2019 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2019 The Deutsche Radiophilharmonie (German Radio Philharmonic) performed a Williams-only concert apparently this summer. There has been a television broadcast which can be found here: https://sr-mediathek.de/index.php?seite=7&id=79205 (as long there is no geoblocking). However, on YouTube there is a much longer version. Enjoy! SteveMc, Ii2, Incanus and 5 others 3 5
Miguel Andrade 1,692 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 The youtube has been there, and then taken down and now seems to be up again. Be sure to check it out. Great performances of some less usual material (Schindler's List on cello and The Lost World) and an amazing "With Malice Toward None".
Jim 6,156 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 They are playing Jurassic Park at the correct tempo! This is the only professional video recording available of this piece, performed the right way, that I'm aware of. Thanks a lot for sharing! SteveMc 1
Disco Stu 15,517 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Shame it's the strings variant of With Malice, which is the lesser of the two arrangements IMO. But a truly lovely performance nonetheless. The Lost World concert arrangement

The percussion sounds fuller in that, but I think the whole orchestra sounds stronger in this new Deutsche Radio video. Either way, I am all for new performances of that great theme.

Incanus 5,884 Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Well that was a fantastic concert with many usual suspects but also a few less performed works. Great performances as well. And good to see Pietari Inkinen, a fellow Finn, conducting with gusto. hornist 1
Tom 6,378 Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 I love that version of the Cantina Band. Williams needs to do an official recording himself.

My favourite was probably this rather eccentric BBC Concert Orchestra version: That kooky horn line at 1:19 👍 apples and Sunshine Reger 2

Tom 6,378 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 For the different orchestra versions, such as the BBC and the GPR, are they Williams's own arrangements. Is there a signature edition?
