    • Substantial, prolonged appearances for the climactic battle, plus several cues throughout to support the Emperor's Theme
    • No choir at all, all orchestral
  22. 22. Will Rey's Theme be threaded through the Force Theme, like the end of the TFA credits, in the body of the score proper?

  23. 23. Did Don's prediction about the length of the score come true, or did the score end up another rewrite/insert mess like TFA?

    • Yes, he was correct, about 135-140 minutes
    • The score matches the runtime, about 155 minutes
    • No, JW had to re-score multiple scenes after reshoots. The score ended up 175-185 minutes long
    • He's still doing revisions! 200+ minutes!

I, too lament the same thing Conrad Pope does in saying Williams is the last of his kind, however I don't think it's the *cue sad violin playing, followed by a crescendo of doom* 'The End of Film Music As We Know It.' After all, film music has gone through periods where select few composers come to define what film music sounds like that it's expected that Williams has his time come and go. There's nothing to say future generations aren't in for some incredible music and we should be more open to that possibility.

Yeah, but Hollywood film music is increasingly becoming a dead artform.

No it hasn't. I'm not saying Williams doesn't deserve the accolades and the respect for shaping and continuing to shape film music for decades, but that Williams isn't some torch bearer. I'm certain more will come along that in fifty years the face of film music will be completely different and they'll be lamenting the fact that the composers of their time will close another chapter in film music history...

I also watched The Mandalorian and it totally devoid of ANY Williams references.  Even the generic "Disney Star Wars" logo before  does not hint at Williams music.

I don't like the music for that logo but I'm pretty sure it hints at the Force theme.

Holy fuck we get new a Star Wars end credits suite in 11 days. Holy shit it's just hitting me now.

You are missing the point on this.  Do you think there will be a track called "The Rise of Skywalker" or not?

It's either accompanying the main title or some cue towards the end of the film, like RotS.

Agreed. Track 1 seems most likely (Main Title and the Rise of Skywalker). He did that with ROTS and the opening battle wasn't exactly tied to the film's title.

I would've guessed Finale for the final track but considering he used that on ESB/TLJ, perhaps a simple title like Skywalker might be a nice gesture for the big credits suite? Especially if it surmises the whole saga.
