John Williams' DISASTER MOVIE SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION (Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, Earthquake) 4CD Box Set from La-La Land Records

I would say the change in style was gradual since the 80s - Nixon is probably one of those scores which in my mind is where Williams shifted into the moodier, darker palette he would bring in the 2000s onwards. Is there one score which represents a major shift between his style?

****

On topic, I like the three graphics for the films, back when there was some serious consideration given to the design of something like a movie title. Nowadays it's very conservative.

However, from a logical design perspective for the package, shouldn't Poseidon Adventure be in the middle, with Earthquake where it is and Towering Inferno at the top to represent the skyscraper? Just nitpicking!

Well yea, it's a very bad OST album!  There's tons of cool music in the whole score.  Since you love his 2010s works so much, you'd probably like this one too

Well, I have no idea where people can hear these complete scores, there isn't a release?

Insert sarcastic post about how this is bottom of the barrel, and not that big of a release at all here.

Parochial, and shortsighted.

A new presentation of an Oscar- nominated score;

The restoration, remix, and complete presentation of another Oscar-nominated and B.A.F.T.A.-winning score;

The premiere release of the complete presentation of a further original film score;

Two remixed and restored OSTs.

I'd happily part with $75.

If you can get your hands on a particular mastering of the score that's out there, called the 'Deluxe Edition' you'll be set. Sounds glorious, and I imagine when the official set is released it can't sound much better!

The set exists the way it does because JW asked to present it this way, otherwise it would have been three separate releases. You'll hear more in the podcast I recorded with Mike and Tim Burden, hopefully in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned! :)

Any update yet on when this will finally be going to air?

How often do you listen to these? :)

EARTQUAKE and INFERNO...now and then. POSEIDON, hardly ever. I just don't like the score in any form or fashion. Which is strange, because it's the best film of the three --- by far! (oh no, I just phrased my opinion like a fact again....oh, the HUMANITY!).

The same Conrack track on that CD showed up on this Varese CD:

Which is still available digitally:

Conrack also received an isolated score by Twilight Time

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JGUG2DO

The Paper Chase was supposed to receive a Twilight Time blu ray, presumably with an isolated score track, but the another label got the rights and has yet to release anything so that FSM CD does remain currently the only place that music has been released.
