Popular Post Jay 37,319
Quote RELEASE #3 WILL TAKE YOU A MILLION LIGHT YEARS AWAY... STARGATE: 25th ANNIVERSARY EXPANDED LIMITED EDITION (2-CD SET) LLLCD 1511 Music by David Arnold Limited Edition of 3000 Units RETAIL PRICE: $29.98 La-La Land Records and MGM proudly present STARGATE: 25th ANNIVERSARY EXPANDED LIMITED EDITION, a 2-CD remastered, deluxe presentation of renowned composer David Arnold’s (DIE ANOTHER DAY, SHAFT, INDEPENDENCE DAY) original motion picture score to the 1994 landmark sci-fi feature film STARGATE, starring Kurt Russell and James Spader, and directed by Roland Emmerich. One of the great adventure scores of the 1990’s, STARGATE ushered David Arnold into the universe of Hollywood’s most sought after composers and kicked off a prolific career that continues to this day. Positively overflowing with action, drama and wonder, Arnold’s score is an orchestral masterwork every bit as epic as the film’s multi-dimensional interstellar plot – and this release unleashes its musical power. Produced by the composer and Neil S. Bulk, and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this stellar-sounding release is expanded across a 2-CD assembly, showcasing the score presentation and additional music tracks for a running time of 109 minutes. The exclusive, in-depth liner notes are by writer Tim Greiving and the sharp art design is by Dan Goldwasser. This is a limited CD edition of 3000 units. TRACK LISTING: DISC 1 SCORE PRESENTATION 1. Popular Post Edmilson 7,395
This release will only remind me of how great Arnold was (or is) as a composer, and that he should be scoring more Hollywood big budget movies A. crumbs 14,304
Quick, someone send a copy to Barbara Broccoli! Seriously great theme though, and great score. I'm sure this sounds superb!

Karol It's pretty good, yes, but a tad bit cheesy compared the original, more sleak cover, IMO. The score is one of my favourites from the 90s. I have no comment on this release otherwise (that isn't already known to everyone here).
Unlucky Bastard 7,782
I always loved this artwork. Was it the European release poster? I remember it was the artwork used for the old Artisan Entertainment DVD special edition. It really looks like a 90s pulpy sci-fi novel front cover. 1977 1,743
Looks like a nice set but I'm not a fan of all those bitty cues. I think my download of the VS DE will suffice (I also have the Milan OST physical CD).
Trent B 337
This is one reason why I love LLL's C&C releases. They actually put the FILM VERSIONS in the main body of the score with the proper label. Then put the ALTERNATES of the film versions as bonus tracks. I really wish Varèse would have put the film version tracks for Air Force One in the main body of the score. Although except for "The Hijacking", having that cue on the release is totally unnecessary. I'm really looking forward to hearing this complete release. It's another one (along with AFO) that I've been wanting in complete form for years. Edmilson and Pieter Boelen
A. A. Ron 1,740
The Varese deluxe edition had the best cover, but this one's pretty good too. 1977
NL197 368
I love how they incorporated the original poster into the disc art. "Send in the Probe" is my most wanted addition. Love the light choral moment in the ending where Catherine says to Jackson that the probe is on the other side of the known universe, and the gate closes. Then you've got the very creepy choir of the Ra - The Sun God film version added to this release...marvelous stuff.

NL197 368
It's obvious to me the bonus tracks after the main score presentation on disc 2 contain many cues from the OST.
1977 1,743
Are there differences in the versions of tracks on the Milan OST and the Varese/Sarabande DE?
Jay 37,319
No differences in the actual music present, that I'm aware of. Of course the OST featured "Orion" in its own track, while on the DE it's combined with the not-on-the-OST cue "Translation". And the OST featured "The Seventh Symbol" in its own track, while on the DE it's combined with the not-on-the-OST cue "The Kiss". But I can't even remember now if those tracks have crossfades or a short silence; Doesn't matter regardless, since the LLL includes both OST tracks. 1977
OneBuckFilms 319
They were crossfades, and somewhat awkward ones at that. Another good reason to get this.

NL197 368
I'm insanely excited for this, but I just can't press the order button. I almost did but the situation I'm in is so dire, while it would be nice to spoil a little bit and get this album, I can't justify it when food and everything else is a priority for my son and I. It's basically a reprint of LLL set with the original promo included as a bonus disc (which doesn't sound as good). It doesn't have as nice liner notes (I assume) bit it's legit.
