There's a ton of music on the OST not heard in the film at all... besides little portions snipped out of cues that did make the film, we have:

 

• 01B [1:26-1:45] Fanfare and Prologue    0:00:26 replaced by Starry Night from TFA
• 01D [1:52-2:52] Fanfare and Prologue    0:01:00
• 01F [2:58-end] Fanfare and Prologue    1:16:00
• 02A [0:00-1:02] Journey to Exegol    0:01:02 I think this is actually partially heard as Rey arrives later in the film, hard to hear under sound effects
• 02C [2:33-end] Journey to Exegol    0:00:16
• 05 The Speeder Chase    0:03:21 replaced in final cut with new, much less interesting cue
• 04B [1:19-2:21] The Old Death Star    0:01:01 could be an early version of the trio meeting Jannah's crew?  Or some of that and some of an early version of Finn talking to Jannah?

Of course, in the early days here, you can certain put very spoiler-y things in tags for the time being.

The point of this thread is so those people who want to discuss the OST album without reading anything about the film can stay in that thread, and only come in here after they've seen the film.

So, after the press screening, I can tell you that the score is really, really good, really crushing. This movie really owns it a lot. I haven't heard FYC material, but especailly two new themes are very epic and have a very prominent place in the score. One is majestic, both are super catchy and memorable. An instant classics for me.

 

I have the impression that this is the most aggressive score of the new trilogy, and at the same time the most lyrical and nostalgic. Of course, old themes are back - Force, Vader, Palaptine, Leia, Han Solo and the Pricnes, Yoda, Rey, Resistance. End Credits is a mix of old themes and new ones.

 

I didn't notice Dule of the Fates, but there is a powerful choir that sounds quite similar to it. There are more choirs, at the beginning and especially in the last act of the film. One of them reminded me of Anakin's Betrayal from ROTS.
 
The movie ends, for the fourth time in a row, with Binnary Sunset.

 

In two places, if I remember correctly, Williams almost copied fragments from ROTJ (Darth Vader's death) and ESB (Dagobah). But it sounds spectacular.

 

To sum up, there is a lot going on here. I can't wait to hear it on CD. And of course a few more times at the cinema.

Thank you for this! Could you describe the end credits a bit more? What I'm most curious about is, do they end in a way that also celebrates JW's achievement, or is there really nothing unexpected to be heard?

End Credits, if I remember correctly, consist of::

- traditional fanfare

- one of the new epic themes,

- Imperial March,

- second of the new epic themes,

- Rey,

- something slower and climatic, also new

- new action theme 

- Rebel Fanfare

- traditional ending from New Hope.

It's clear to me that the FYC track "ends" where Binary Sunset would begin, but the Binary Sunset part was removed from the FYC because its an existing arrangement

 

If you listen to the track, you can hear Binary Sunset beginning in your head as the track ends

Bigger than TFA and TLJ, for sure. Similar to PT, but choirs play a slightly different role here, they are more sinister, more ominous

Well, there are a couple of Kylo/Rey fights in the film, and some of them have music. But nothing stood out in a thematic sense, at least not for me.

Not necessarily for me. I didn't listen to anything before the screening. In fact, I focused on film as much as on music. This isn't always easy with such intensity of events on the screen.
