What’s next for JW?

And then writing a piano concerto. It’s like the only instrument left he hasn’t written a concerto for.

He could start by releasing a proper recording of his Scherzo for piano and orchestra! Unless there was one I missed?

Ah, wouldn't it be great if they let him write the main theme for the Obi-Wan show? Sadly that won't happen.

It'll happen if JW asks to do it, which won't happen. It's not really about "letting him."

Yeah, true. Wonder if it would have been any different had they not decided to make it a series instead of a film. John doesn't really seem to care about the TV shows. He's probably done with Star Wars anyway.

He already did.

I haven't listened to this track for so long, that in all the excitement about Disney Trilogy themes I have forgotten just how perfect the music used to be. Every single note of Obi-wan's mellow theme, the audibly vintage sound, and the dark space horizon over the planet Tatooine in the picture are enough to have me frozen like a frame.

I fear to imagine how this music will feel once Williams is gone.

Just keep an eye to Spielberg related news, folks. The Post was released on December 2017, but he only got announced as director by March 2017. "Yeah, but what about West Side Story?" Well, three years ago he also had Ready Player One set to release in March 2018, and it still didn't stop him to doing The Post. So, if he finds some smaller historical drama that actually inspires him to do something, post production on WSS won't stop him.

JW should record

  • the Original Star Wars trilogy with the sound mixing/engineering used for the Prequel trilogy
  • the Prequel trilogy with the sound mixing/engineering used for the Original trilogy (Ep IV more specifically)
  • the Sequel trilogy with the sound mixing/engineering used for the Prequel and Original trilogy (but not the other way round).

I've been thinking about SW mixing / engineering yesterday. How come it sounds so unique? What has been done differently that one time that it sounds nothing like the next 9 films?

Why?

The re-recordings never have the feeling of the original recordings. And the micing of the first one is just terrible.
