Christopher Tolkien, son of JRR Tolkien, who edited his father's writings in such books as The Silmarillion and The Children of Hurin, had passed away at the age of 95.

RIP. And indeed Christopher Tolkien's work on his father's writings was in and of itself an extraordinary achievement.

RIP. He was vital in the lasting life of his father's legacy. And if it weren't for his work, that world would mean so much less in scope and depth than it is now.

But you also haveThe Children of Hurin, which is terrific. 

 

We absolutely have Christopher Tolkien to thank for that one (even though I would have included Hurin's Wanderings in it, too).
