Let's apply the Joker treatment to other franchises! [Fun Thread]

As you may know, Joker is a 2019 movie that takes the classic Batman villain and tell its origin story in a dark, depressing and violent character study. Director Todd Phillips probably wanted to make a Scorsese-ish movie, but these days the only way he could get funding for that is either he goes low budget and then straight to streaming, or he ties it to a known media franchise.

So, the point of the thread is this: let's take characters (preferably villains, or at least anti heroes) from other franchises and make their own depressing, edgy, R Rated, and very, very, very dark, but still artsy, spin-off. Maybe Hildur will score them all and win more Oscars?

Snape

Even wizards aren't immune to the most cruel, unforgiving side of the world. In this somber psychological thriller from acclaimed director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar), Severus (Finn Wolfhard) is a young student on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Bullied from his peers, abused at home and ignored by the girl he loves, Lily (Mina Sundwall), Severus is drawn to the Dark Arts as a mean to become more powerful and take revenge on his agressors. But when one spell of his own invention, Sectumsempra, sends a colleague to the infirmary, a spiral of events will make Severus one of the most feared wizards... But can also bring a tragic destiny to Lily and to him.

Prince Hans

From controversial director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favorite), comes this period black comedy about a young prince from the kingdom of Southern Islands. The youngest of his silblings, Hans (Garrett Hedlund) knows he'll never take the throne for himself. Obsessed with being king, he will scheme, manipulate, lie, destroy lives, loves and reputations on his way to the throne, with his suave ways with women hiding a cruel sociopath who won't stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Judge Frollo

From the Academy Award nominated director of First Reformed Paul Schrader, comes the untold story of one of Disney's and Victor Hugo's darkest villains. Claude Frollo (Hugh Jackman) is a young orphan raised in a convent by priests. One day, he is caught with a woman and is severly punished by the priests, which causes Frollo to become an unforgiving and cruel religious man. As a judge, armed with a literal interpretation of the Bible, Frollo will torment, punish, torture and slaughter anyone he deems as a sinner, while he believes he is bringing the Wrath of God upon the wicked.

Blofeld

Realising that heading up an organisation responsible for global chaos doesn't compensate for being shunned by half-brother James, Ernst falls into a downward spiral of dry Martini and painkiller addiction in a twisted form of tribute to him. Screenplay by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (inspired by characters created by a spinning-in-his-grave-by-now Ian Fleming) and featuring an awards-worthy turn by Christoph Waltz. Directed by Denis Villeneuve.

BRAINS

A loveable, but socially inept, scientific genius, lives with a family of six, and various others, on a remote island, "somewhere in the Pacific". Pissed at being passed-over, because of his stutter, he lusts after an oriental teenager, while she is wide, for a fair-haired astronaut. Added to this, he has to fight-off the advances of Grandma, who sees him as her toy boy.

The final straw comes when he is used to impersonate someone called "Hackenbacker", and, at the end of the mission, can't even get to first base, with Lady Penelope.

Seeing an opportunity to make it on his own, he is won over by a bald dude, with glowing eyes, (who, incidentally, happens to be the half-brother of the teenager's dad), who promises him riches beyond compare  He opens up a beer factory, and secretly begins injecting harmful bacteria into the bottles, to create the Corona Virus...

Bob

In the media, he is known as a goofy sideshow on a wildly successful kids' program during the early 90s. But, in private, he is actually a cruel, heartless serial killer, with a creepy obsession for a young boy. From director David Fincher, comes the most horrifying serial killer movie since Seven: Sideshow Bob!

Young Bruce, a timid but kindly lad, has led a sheltered life under the protection of his loving parents Thomas and Martha. One terrible evening, Bruce's world is shattered when he witnesses the brutal and pointless murder of his mum and dad by cowardly villains. Fuelled by a desire for justice, and faced with the difficulties of surviving alone in a ruthless and indifferent world, Bruce is forced to grow in strength and resilience, physically and emotionally. Tragically, however, his good-hearted personality is consumed by a burning hatred for those who wronged him, and their kind, and he develops a psychopathic obsession with revenge. His descent into madness builds with horrifying inevitability towards the commencement of his first campaign of terror near a small island off the coast of New England. Jon Favreau's darkest movie yet, Bad Fish, opens worldwide on Friday.

OMA TRES

Who is he? Where did he come from? How did he end up on Kijimi, among these seemingly random collectibles? There's just so much we don't know. He seems so powerful just from that one glance...

Wow! Just wow!!

And to think I just finished watching the new, very kiddie version of the Thunderbirds only a few days ago.

Your version contrasts quite shockingly to that one...

Thanks, @Pieter Boelen.

It's just a bit of fun, but it shows (I hope) my love of the show, which I used to watch as a child - and still do. Of course, as an adult, one sees "things" in it, that one doesn't notice, as a child.

The "new, very kiddie version" is not bad. It's probably better than the mid-90s movie (the one with Bill Paxton).

It most certainly does.

It's indeed pretty good and INFINITELY better than that Zimmer-scored abomination.

Thunderbirds remains super, super cool.

Even if, sometimes, the stories really don't stand up to scrutiny.

Like that recent "Poseidon Adventure" episode.

Sure shows the dangers of undercrewing your ships, which is painfully realistic in this day and age.

But that tsunami as a threat in the middle of the ocean was COMPLETELY laughable.

What if I told you I myself actually survived just that?

True story. It was very epic. Definitely worthy of a movie.

It was in 2011 on the cruiseship Maasdam, off the coast of Costa Rica on the Pacific side.

We had been receiving tsunami warnings all night long, but without much detail.

Finally at 8 in the morning we received a list of the times various countries would be hit by it.

Half an hour later, I could tell my relieving officer that we'd have a tsunami for coffee time.

"Seriously?"

"Yes."

"Holy crap! Did you tell the captain?"

"No."

Who can guess how that story continued...?

He fixes the cable?

Wow!

Is that as random as I think it is? ROTFLMAO

I left the bridge to get breakfast in the restaurant.

Walked through the Spa and told the girls there about the tsunami too.

All of them getting beautifully worked up, of course! :eek2:
