Attempt number six to leave Antwerp is in the works, to Dublin

Congrats, bollemanneke!  We'll miss you here at JWFan, but I'm sure you will have great success in your new home, England!

What was the motivation for moving?  Just something you'd always wanted to do, or for the pursuit of a specific opportunity?

The idea is to survive for three months in London and see how it unfolds.

Living rough?

He'd always romanticised about it, but BREXIT finally made his mind up.

Welcome, bollemanneke. There are a number of homeless shelters and hostels in London, fingers crossed you'll find a place to crash.

I want to do it because the people in England are generally much warmer and friendlier than Belgians. (I know locals will say not everyone is great, but I've had ample time to compare.) And I just love speaking and listening to the language, the culture, everything. (Not Brexit.)

Yes, I'm going without a job. I'll try and find one there as soon as possible, but didn't want that to delay the move. I'll manage for three months, whatever happens.

Congratulations Bolleke.

While i'm a self confessed Anglophile in a way i never considered moving, because in my few brief visits to the UK, or England to be exact, i never never considered it to be all that different to where I already live.

Certainly the British mentality is quite familiar. And not that dissimilar from the Dutch, despite them being more repressed.

Not to mention their stricter drug policy.

It's just as well you bumped the thread to stop us all thinking you lived in Milton Keynes, JS.

Geez. I wouldn't wish anyone to live in Milton Keynes. They still have the plastic cows.

Fun fact: in July of 1978, I bought JAWS2 on vinyl, at Milton Keynes H.M.V. :)

So, what happened to bollemaneke? Did he have to return back to his home country (like most travelers were forced to do), or is he still stuck in England?

Where did you buy The Missouri Breaks?

Since you ask: Brent Cross Shopping Centre, June, 1976.

I bought it the day before I attended a service at Westminster Abbey, to commentate the independence of the Seychelles Islands.

This could be outdated but last thing I heard is that bolle is stuck in Belgium and he isn't too happy about it.

Well, he seems to be posting here, so perhaps he could chime in to update us? Unless he wants to be all coy and shit. :)

haha, I love how this thread grew.

So, yeah, Alex is right, I'm stuck in Belgium. Started looking for a host family in Manchester and found one potential one, but can't meet her because of the dreaded C-word. I'm trying to keep my hopes up and stay positive, but it's hard when you've got a family who insists on having the news on all day and talking about the C-word all day. Oh, and we also have a 'flu commissioner' who advises people not to go abroad in the summer. Downloaded a pack of Irish folk music to remain upbeat, which works sometimes, but I'm really scared this is going to be be a completely wasted year.

"Seychelles became an independent republic within the Commonwealth on June 29, 1976"

Missouri Breaks UK release date: 8 July 1976

Assuming they dropped the OST early... your story checks out!
