What are your 3 favorite tracks in a row on any JW score

Peculiar topic. I have a hard time thinking of some. I tend to press 'play' on an album and then let it play out without paying attention very much to track titles. It's just one continous listening experience. But a score like HARRY POTTER 3 has lots of these 'chunks' of highlights throughout, for example. Same for INDY 3, or NOT WITH MY WIFE YOU DON'T. And on IMAGES, there's a great segue from the wildly atonal to the tonal midway on the album ("The Killing of Marcel", "The Love Montage" and "Blood Moon").

The Rescue and The Bike Chase / Departure /End Credits from ET

In that case I'd much rather go with E.T. is Alive/Rescue and Bike Chase/Departure, for a great lead-in and one perfectly satisfactory finale to the Maestro's finest 15 minutes with no afterthought playoff after it.

For CE3K I'd have to go with the 1998 release:

Wild Signals (a must have for me)

The Returnees

The Visitors/Bye/End Titles

The Force Awakens

Scherzo for X-Wings

Farewell and The Trip

The Jedi Steps and Finale

Wow, yeah, that might be hard to top.  So good.

Although less celebrated or iconic than other excellent 3 track sequences posted above, from TLW LaLa Land release:

  1. In the trailer
  2. On the glass
  3. Rescuing Sarah

is absolutely, blood pumping incredible. My favorite stretch of music in the whole score.

I'm approving this.

One of my first thoughts as well, however, there is no album that has that sequence, that's taking tracks from two different albums and making a playlist out of them.

If we open up the door to mixing and matching tracks, people could just start naming any 3 tracks they like from any scores.  The point of the thread as I understood it was to talk about sequences on official releases that have awesome 3track runs

Yes exactly.

'Fast Streets of Shanghai' is my favorite track on ToD, but it's surrounding tracks don't make for a better 3 run track as my initial post had (just my opinion)

In attempting to list my favorites, Raiders was probably the hardest, unless you use the OST.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (OST)

Flight from Peru

The Basket Game

The Map Room: Dawn

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Concord)

Indy Rides the Statue

The Fist Fight / The Flying Wing

Desert Chase

Is that a good track?

It left virtually no impression on me.

Feel like I'm missing something now...

The correct answer, although I officially start with "ET Is Alive" for the amazing final 22 minutes of music.

I would also agree, I need the 'E.T. Is Alive' for the build-up.

Thanks for making this video, Stu, it's awesome.

I love how completely obvious the adult stunt men that are really riding the bikes are, yet it doesn't matter at all because Spielberg and Williams have you completely under their spell by this point

Of course it is difficult track if you like soft melodies but for me, as a brass player it is wonderfully aggressive music with testosterone. I love this studio orchestra especially the brass section. And it is the best SW score.

Not sure if this is really my #1 favorite, but it's pretty great and hasn't been mentioned yet:

War Horse

Learning the Call

Seeding, and Horse vs. Car

Plowing

Definitely the better sequence to get 'Plowing' in there.

That cue is just astoundingly good. Blows me away every time (and I've probably listened to it several hundred times).

For me the real awesome part there is at 11:36, when JW sort of breaks off from the melody into a heroic little fanfare as the boys get ready to land.

One of my absolutely favorite sequences would be:

  • Qui-Gon And Obi-Wan Rescue The Queen
  • Fighting The Guards
  • Escape From Naboo

THIS THIS THIS. Absolutely brilliant action writing.
