Sea Attack Number One

One Barrel Chase

Preparing the Cage

The classic seafaring bits rerecorded for the album and perfectly sequenced.

Beautiful.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Concord)

Indy's Very First Adventure

The Boat Scene

X Marks the Spot

What a way to begin that score, holy smokes.

I agree with that one too.

I'm going to add the Zubin Mehta SW/Close Encounters album due to its magnificent recording and powerhouse renditions of the finales of these great scores.

The Battle

The Throne Room/End Title

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Home Alone (Expanded)

Star of Bethlehem

Carol of the Bells

Setting the Trap

I know, I know, John didn't actually write Carol of the Bells.

It really is a perfect textbook example of how to set up a fugue.

I love it - that score was instantly one of my all-time Williams favorites when it came out (12 years ago no? How!) and I feel its appreciation has slowly grown ever since even though the movie has been completely forgotten

Yes, the score came suddenly, just like the movie, out of nowhere for me.

And it came at a time, when Wiliams scores had become quite thrifty with instantly recognizable romantic melodies. And in the amazon reviews of his recent scores you could frequently read comments like "not as good as he used to be" or "he has run out of melodies". But this score was the proof, he had absolutely not run out of anything.

The thing about the War Horse score to me that makes it so special, is that it was honest to god the first time in my life I went to see a movie in a theater where I  was more interested in hearing the score than seeing the film. (Still love the film)

Even when KOTCS came out, I wasn't really exclusively listening to John Williams the way I do now, but sometime after KOTCS and the release of the Concord set is when I really began to take in everything from JW.

I would add E.T.s Adventures on Earth as this is basically 3 tracks in 1.

The Ambulance Chase

The Bike Chase and Flying

Farewell

But the opening sequence of the OST is marvellous, too.

Three Million Light Years from Home

Abandoned and Persued

E.T. and Me

The River / Growing Up / Pony Ride.

I played the new Intrada album so much as a comfort during that tough COVID summer of 2020, so I’d note this as a personal favourite.
