Thor 7,495
He's such a Williams fanboy! I had hoped to interview him during his Oslo concert in May, but I think that's cancelled now.

Kühni 485
Why is he making a differentiation between score and music? Doesn't dude know what he's talking about? Also...is he just putting more laurels on JW while disregarding the work of Doyle and Desplat? bollemanneke
Marian Schedenig 8,192
Randy Newman is one of the funniest people in the world to talk to. I'm sure that holds true even in a Skype interview. 12 minutes ago, Kühni said: Also...is he just putting more laurels on JW while disregarding the work of Doyle and Desplat? Popular Post Marian Schedenig 8,192
He just signed my three CDs and when he came to The Princess and the Frog, he said "I'd better sign this Randy Princess Newman, then" (and he did). But he did have a longer chat with the guy after me (because unlike me, that guy actually was capable of carrying a normal conversation while getting an autograph), and ended up telling some lengthy (and funny) joke or anecdote that I can't remember now, while simultaneously writing his autograph and a dedication that ended up filling the entire photo sheet he was signing, while having us bystanders in stitches. Popular Post Doug Adams 494
A friend and I met Randy Newman at a party years and years ago. My friend told Newman that he was his mother's favorite singer. "Oh yeah?" he responded. "How old is she?" My friend answered, then added she'd be older the next week -- her birthday was coming up. "It is?" Newman said. "Give me your phone." He did. He called her, sang Happy Birthday, said, "here's your son," and tossed the phone back to my friend. crumbs, Jurassic Shark, SteveMc and 8 others 10
Kühni 485
Here's the result of my only interaction with RN. Very gladly received, and I'll overlook the suspect German syntax.

Popular Post crumbs 14,306
Let's face it, it was all downhill after Cuaron and Williams left the series (arguably the two most talented artists in their respective crafts). Arpy 4,145
I agree they created one of the best films in the series, but I wouldn't say it went downhill after PoA. Goblet of Fire is my favourite film of the series.
publicist 4,643
They are all on Sky now. I glanced through Philosopher's first 30 minutes and it's insufferable, and the score follows suit. It's really better enjoyed as stand-alone listen.

crumbs 14,306
You really need to be in the right mood for the first score... it's overwhelmingly syrupy in one sitting. Probably better enjoyed in half hour increments.
