Major rumors coming out about Disney and Star Wars

At this point, who cares.  The films are what they are.  Its not like they can redo them with the original trio (nor Williams).  Enjoy their scores (and movies, if they are your cup of tea) and call it a day.

This sounds like utter nonesense, particularly this bit:

Quote

here is some kind of “civil war” going on at Lucasfilm, between a faction that seems to be headed by Kathleen Kennedy, representing “new Star Wars” and one headed by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, representing the “classic Star Wars” and the Lucas vision for the franchise.

Its just a fan taking the people helming the Star Wars product he (or sh...okay, lets be honest, its a he) happens to like, and labeling them "good" and Kathleen Kennedy as "bad" and inventing some kind of war between those people and the person who is, in effect, their boss. Ludicrous.

Also, how are the sequel trilogy/Skywalker saga boxsets selling? That'll tell you everything you need to know about any interest in decanonizing it.

No, I think it'll take a while before he lets go of the "you just wait and see, the fourth trilogy will show you the secret genius of this trilogy" theory.

Long before this "leak", I read chatter on a Disney forum about a potential shakeup in Disney's LucasFilm.

Any CEO should be concerned by constant firings over "creative differences", dwindling box office returns (Including a huge flop--Solo was an absolute monster) and the lukewarm response to a baffling billion dollar expansion of Disneyland with none of the classic characters or charm of the series that seems to have been a curse on the resort. Attendance was possibly never lower in recent years than last summer when Galaxy Edge opened. A place that was normally a madhouse was a ghost town. It's a lot of wasted time and money.

The Mandalorian was a huge success and it's a big card that Disney has to play right now with their company in the dumps. It's SW getting back to being like SW with cool masculine characters, believable strong females and Nick Nolte. The film and theme park industries are in the shitter for the foreseeable Coronian future, but the future of SW on streaming services is viable. Disney+ launched right as everyone was forced to stay home because of the 'Rona.

Who, after The Force Awakens, proves really friggin' useless.

Hey, he defeats Captain Phasma and destroys that Air Traffic Controller thing in TROS.

This news is as truth as the news that I am Scarlett Johannsson's new boyfriend.

Congratulations?

There's a rumor now that Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down.

Yeah I saw that one too... back in 2015!

Lol just disregard all this obvious bullshit fabricated by faceless internet trolls. It's all fake.

This is not a rumor, it's fanfiction. Just because someone says something on the internet doesn't make it a rumor.

Maybe this should have been the plot of the sequel trilogy.  A newly appointed leader of the new Republic that makes several bad decisions and the infighting that ensues.

Why shouldn't she step down? She's almost 70 years old. Don't these people retire anymore?

In that case, shoot, I suppose Spielberg should retire as well. You heard it here first everyone. Spielberg is done with movies!

This rumor seems like utter bollocks. It's the same bitter wishful thinking all the butt-hurt Star Wars fans had when they wanted a remake of The Last Jedi, or that there were a bazillion cuts of the Rise of Skywalker and in-fighting between Abrams and Disney.

It might be true, however, that Disney have seen the mixed reaction to this trilogy and the experience of making it and moving forward they'll simply just leave it be and invest in the newer trilogies they're planning.

Yeah the era they're focusing on in books and comics now is the High Republic a couple hundred years before the prequels, they might pursue new movies tying into those instead of continuing/fleshing out the ST.

It doesn’t take a crystal ball to guess they will leave the ST era alone for a decade or so, till criticism cools and nostalgia runs high.

Lol. That sounds like a kind of graph they would get from a market research firm. XD

This is nothing but a fanboy dreaming.

What would be the incentive business-wise?

Not flushing the franchise they paid billions for down the toilet.

Maybe.

A retcon won't change that outcome, if we think it's a loss for Disney in the first place.

Uh, getting the Star Wars fans they deliberately pissed off, back, to pay for future endeavors, does change the outcome.

Just saw the making of the last jedi on disney+ the other day and it was so depressing to see that mark hamill being displeased about the treatment of luke skywalker was a recurring theme throughout the documentary.

Wrong.

Neither fans nor the casual moviegoer will forget about the “bad” ST just because they’re taken out of canon. Do you think the general public would care? The damage is done.

Correct.

Better to move on, forget about losses and bad decisions, and focus on whatever “wins” lies ahead. Better to focus on new endeavors such as TV shows and games until they’ve grown popular enough to warrant a spinoff movie, or enough time has passed so that they just make a new movie with new characters all together.

What is there to flesh out about the ST, though? We all got what we wanted, right: Rey searching for her parents for three movies, learning they were fine people and then discarding them completely because Skywalker needed to be the last word of the movie.
