Popular Post BrotherSound 2,242
Surprised this didn’t get picked up here before the auctions closed. If you thought $2,000 for an FYC CD was outrageous, check this out: So, fortunately it’s not the original, but someone bid $12,800 for a photocopy of John Williams sketches for ‘The Asteroid Field’, as well as $12,800 for photocopied sketches of the Empire Strikes Back “Finale”. These copies were gifted to an executive at RSO Records, which put out the original ESB album: https://www.julienslive.com/m/lot-details/index/catalog/353/lot/141569?url=%2Fm%2Fsearch%3Fkey%3Dempire%2Bstrikes%2Bback https://www.julienslive.com/m/lot-details/index/catalog/353/lot/141570?uact=5&aid=353&lid=141569¤t_page=0 I just wish this would convince someone that there’s a market for this material! You can buy reproductions of Beethoven, Stravinsky, and Mahler manuscripts. How cool would it be to have a facsimile of the complete sketches of a Star Wars score? Henry Sítrónu 494
just because individuals might pay astronomic (not to say absurd) amounts of money doesn't necessarily prove that there's a market for this.

stravinsky 203
I've just never understood why publishing companies have never released pocket scores of complete film soundtracks. I'm convinced they would sell. Maybe it's a legal minefield though. A great great shame.
