Popular Post Marian Schedenig 8,082
Maxine Kwok, LSO violinist and, judging by her social media accounts, one of the biggest Williams fans, is going to interview colleagues like Anne-Sophie Mutter and Carmine Lauri about working with John Williams on Scala Radio this Sunday at 1pm (GMT presumably, since Scala Radio seems to be London based). I rarely bother with radio because I hate organising my day around fixed broadcast times, but I expect if I post this here, someone will record it and the rest of us will be able to listen to it later. Skelly 260
Even if no one records it live (I'll try to), there's an option for all their other programs to "Listen again", so I guess that'll be the case for the Williams show as well. https://planetradio.co.uk/scala-radio/schedule/
bollemanneke 3,308
Yeah but isn't it UK only?
Skelly 260
On paper it is, but you can put in any random postcode and it lets you through. Or at least, it lets me listen live. I still get error messages when I try to listen to old programs. Not sure if that's just me or related to the geo-blocking.

bollemanneke 3,308
This is so weird. They talk about Schindler's List being performed by the LSO in 2018, but then they go on and broadcast Perlman's version... Same happens with ET. Is the only recording of that historic event really Classic FM's subpar broadcast?!
Jurassic Shark 11,956
They probably chose the cheapest route.
bollemanneke 3,308
Well I'd be a lot happier if Classic FM confirmed that the dynamic range compression was not present in their actual recording and that it was just a broadcast thing, and if the LSO made those truly glorious performances available in decent quality. It's to be expected that it wasn't *recorded* with live dynamic range compression, but just broadcast this way. Isn't (traditional) radio where dynamic over-compression orginated? bollemanneke 3,308
If you say so. The lack of any official release is getting more ridiculous by the day.
