SilverTrumpet 638
I saw them counting this down yesterday and was wondering what the heck it was about since the entries of the list made no sense and the order even less sense.

Jurassic Shark 12,072
I've got 46 soundtracks from the top 100 list. That_Bloke
Thor 7,500
I count 72. But then in addition to that, also a whole bunch that I used to own, but that have since departed from my collection. I've heard all of them, except Nigel Hess' LADIES IN LAVENDER. That_Bloke

Thor 7,500
SCHINDLER'S LIST has always been a great crossover score (to the classical crowd). Same goes for Nyman's THE PIANO. I remember in the 90s, you would always find Doyle's HENRY V in the classical section, probably due to the Simon Rattle connection, so I'm actually surprised it's not on the list. Thor 7,500
That's a shame. I've always loved it, even if it's over-played and over-exposed over the years. Huge fan of the film too. Naïve Old Fart and Taikomochi

Popular Post Quintus 5,399
Typical list and predictable top five result coming from this source. Schindler's List is such a luvvie score on Classic FM, even though it isn't even top twenty material for the majority of film score enthusiasts. I had to check my own top 50, and found it at 47th place. Granted, that list 7-8 years now, and needs serious updating, but it's more or less in that territory that I would place Schindler now as well. Film-wise, however, it's top 5 for me. Unlike many of John's other scores, which, for better or worse, do rely a lot on bombast, Schindler's List shares the more subdued emotional approach common to the most popular eras of classical music. As well, unlike scores that follow the drama or add to it, as it were, Schindler's List serves to comment on it, thus being by nature more of a standalone work, written in response to the movie more than for it. bruce marshall, That_Bloke, KK and 1 other

My opinion is that the melodies and their respective accompaniments have a classic-style sound to them. It sounds like something Schubert, Brahms, or Mendelssohn could have written, or in that style. bruce marshall
Joni Wiljami 1,206
SL is lovely but I could easily name 50 better soundtracks before it for a list like this. Of course all of them would be by JW. bruce marshall

bruce marshall 1,315
NYT article on August 31 about Yitzhak Pearlman says SL has been streamed 35 million times " five times as many as his most popular tracks". If JW gets half a penny ( doubtful) that's 150k. Not too shabby!😊
